Orphan Black Season 2 Episode 5: Clone Bonding Time

foreveryoungadult.com

Lots is happening with our favorite clones and their loved ones this week in "Ipsa Scientia Potestas Est". The title apparently means "knowledge itself is power". True dat.

The only clone we didnt check in on this episode is Alison. She's still in rehab. We see much more of her next week.

Cal and Kira are still living in a van down by the river (well actually it's an RV). Cal is not all that he seems. He has a gun, multiple IDs and foreign currencies stashed. Is he connected to Project Leda, the Prolos or something else entirely?

Speaking of the Prolos, Henrick has Gracie's lips sewn shut as punishment for what she did to Helena. Yuck. They finally un-stitch her. She is told she'll carry the fertilized egg if they cant retrieve Helena. That poor girl should take a hint and run away quickly.

After the emotional scene at the end of last week's episode, we catch up with Sarah and Helena back at Felix's place. Sarah says they have to protect her. Felix is not so sure. He takes her to Art's apartment where he tries to get whatever info he can out of her. Felix suggests that he try food (which works exceeding well). That girl loves to eat.

Paul is back in town and is now Rachel's main squeeze. Rachel is out to get the other clones since Helena killed Daniel last week. Paul holds Felix hostage. He tells Sarah that if she doesnt turn herself and Kira in, Felix will go to prison for the murder of the police officer (who Daniel really killed). Sarah calls Art. Helena attacks Art and escapes. We all know she's heading for Rachel's.

We also learn more about Project Leda, it seems that two scientists were Rachel's adopted parents. They were killed in a lab accident in... or were they? Sarah tells Leekie that she believes the father (Dr Ethan Duncan, alias Swan Man) is still alive. She and Helena go on a road trip. According to Helena he is at the "place of screams". That doesnt sound good.

Before leaving Sarah tells Leekie what she knows.  Leekie promises to continue the experimental treatments with Cosima (even though it is against Rachel's orders). Sarah does not know that Cosima is sick. The clones dont tell each other everything after all.

Leekie also tries to make a deal with Paul to come to Leekie first with whatever Rachel tells him to do. It's good to see Leekie get out from under her thumb.

Sarah and Art finally catch up with Helena. She is in an abandoned building across from Rachel's with a sniper rifle. Meanwhile Rachel and Paul are in her apartment having sexy times. Close some curtains people! The best part off the entire episode is when Helena has a doll's head that is supposed to be Helena strapped to the top of her rifle. Too funny. Anyway Sarah finally convinces her not to shoot Rachel or Paul. The two clones walk away hugging each other while Art looks on in confusion. Who knows why clones do what they do?

Grade: 4 1/2 Monsters (out of 5). An excellent episode. If only Alison had made an appearance it would have been perfect. And we're midway through the season. I'm sad already.
