Helix Episode 11 Recap: This Is Not Father Daughter Bonding Time

Day 11 at Arctic Biosystems and Peter, King of the Vectors, is busy kidnapping people. Hatake checks Constance's phone. If she doesn't report back in six hours, Ilaria will send 100 troops. Hatake plants explosives throughout the complex. The plan is to gather the 20 uninfected people and go to the underground Montana bunker. They will then set off the explosives and kill the mercenaries and vectors (and use a secret tunnel to return to the surface).

Julia has a spinal tap to save Sarah. Julia discovers a way to program the NARVICK virus to destroy itself. Remember she secretly saved the virus from the fire last week. Hatake tells Miksa the truth about Julia being his daughter. Daniel doesn't take it well.

Those vectors know a thing or two about teamwork. They infect the kidnapped then drain their blood. The blood is then pumped through the sprinkler system into the sunroom where the uninfected are gathered (hence the episode title " Black Rain").  And now those people are vectors too.

The team finds a way to deliver the cure through a blast of cryofreezie stuff (thanks to some invention by Miksa) and an injection to the stomach. Peter is the first subject. The cure seems to be working but wasnt that way too easy? Meanwhile Sarah is having recurring symptoms and silver eyes.

Ilaria arrives. They create a diversion with drone snowmobiles while secretly parachuting in. That was cool. According to Hatake the worst assassin has arrived. He is known as "the Scythe". They disable all the detonating devices so there will be no explosions. We get our first glimpse of the villain after he and two sidekicks wipe out an elevator full of people. The only humans left alive are now in the underground Montana bunker (I think). And in the big reveal of the show, the Scythe is actually a young kid with silver eyes. His orders are to find Hatake and the NARVICK virus and to exterminate everyone else.

Favorite Quotes:

  • "These vectors represent a new step in evolutionary virology. Its created a viral collective."- Alan
  • "Are they (the vectors) worth saving?"- Hatake
  • "In the last 11 days I have been attacked, infected, left for dead, crated like an animal, not to mention being transformed from the inside out"- Julia
  • "Oh no this is not father daughter bonding time"- Jules to Hatake

Grade: 4 Monsters (out of 5). I'm excited about the new developments. And doesnt that cherry music make the massacre in the elevator that much worse? Only two episodes to go till the end of season 1. Will there be a season 2?
