Lost Girl Episode 7 Recap: Those Are Some Ugly Ass Magical Shoes

I'm behind in doing my "Lost Girl" recaps (heaven forbid). It's that I don't like the show (love it). It's just that with my 12 hour a day job, it's hard to keep up with all my shows. I think I've going to need to trim my viewing activities some (or, better yet, quit my job).

Episode 7 is entitled "La Fae Epoque". Dyson has been kidnapped by the Una Mens. They're going to execute him for murders committed in the 1800s. Aren't the statutes of limitations up on those yet? Team Bo mobilizes to save him. The plan is for Bo to take a trip into Dyson's memory and find out the truth (thus getting him acquitted). I think an easier plan would be to just try to break him out (which is what Kenzi and the Hale do). But Kenzi gets found out as a human (luckily AFTER putting the red string around Dyson's ankle) and now she's going to be killed as well. That girl cannot stay out of trouble.

Lauren helps Bo access Dyson's memories. "Bo-As-Dyson" (henceforth know as BAD) ends up in 1800s France. Dyson is busy bedding all the local ladies and stealing stuff. Trick tells BAD that he must find the Hel-Shoes to stop the end of days. Yes this episode is seriously about shoes that kill people (and they are ugly shoes at that). You could have at least had some ruby slippers or something.

BAD meets up with Flora Blooms (a French lounge singer and forest fae) and one of his main squeezes. She gets the shoes from Prince What's-His-Name (Vex) and puts them on (but then cant take them off). Flora turns all wolverine and a bunch of people die. Then Crater shoots Flora in the back and kills her. Then Trick shows up and whacks Crater with his staff and asks Dyson to join him as his second in the new world. Dyson then vows to hide the shoes so they cant cause any more harm. .

Meanwhile back at the ranch, the Una Mens say they will let Dyson and Kenzi go if he gives them the shoes. Lauren goes into Dyson's memories to try to save Bo. Bo comes out but Lauren is still in. Bo saves her with a kiss (there' still some chemistry there folks). Anyway what the Coach was trying to tell BAD is that one of the shoes is hidden inside the championship belt wrapped in a jock strap (nice touch). Bo arrives at the Una Mens clubhouse just in time and breaks Dyson and Kenzi out. And we find out the other shoe is... being held by the angel bartender form 1800s France (who was played by Kenzi in the flashback).

Important Stuff I Learned During This Episode:
  • Always carry red string with you (just in case). It has to be red though, not blue or green.
  • Bo has sex with Lauren as Dyson. That was very strange and surprising hot.
  • Dyson thinks about boobs a lot.
  • What's a Shadow Thief? Dyson asks Kenzi if she's interested in being one.
  • Zoe Palmer (Lauren) was completely cracking me up with her portrayal of Flora. The hand gestures, the facial expressions, everything was just a delight.
  • Death toll-- one monk, one scavenger fae, and a bunch of innocent French people. Please kill the shoes while you're at it.

Favorite Quotes:
  • "It's sort of a think dark to be dark kinda thing"- Lauren to Bo.
  • "Memory glitch much?"- BAD when she sees the track coach while in Dyson's memories.
  • "Stuck in period France. Wash."- Cathy the Oracle who is trying to help BAD
  • "Trick can suck my left tit."- Cathy the seer before giving up on helping Bo
  • "You are a waste of flesh. All you've ever done is steal and screw... Go on, run, like you've always done."- Crater to BAD.
  • "We will start a Fae colony, a better life"- Trick to Dyson.
  • "Looks like Dyson is enjoying it (the singing) too"- BAD noticing Dyson enjoying the singing in his trousers.
  • “Mortis invenio in unitate”- spoken by Una of the Una Mens. Its some Latin thingy.
  • "I always imagined I’d go hotel poolside. You know, Twizzler in one hand, Liam Neeson in the other.”- Kenzi on how she thought she'd die.

Grade: 4 1/2 Monsters (out of 5). This is one of my most favorite episodes. I've said it before but this show continues to be the strangest (but most successful) show on TV. It's almost impossible to accurately explain. That's why I love it. And that apparently was Zoe Palmer really singing in French? That woman is amazeballs.
