How To Get Away With Murder Season 3 Episode 1: We're Good People Now (Season Premiere)

Annalise and the Keating Five (Wes, Laurel, Michaela, Connor and Asher) are back for another season of murder and mayhem. There have been so many twists in this story that I wont even try to recap them. Instead, check out my previous reviews here: How To Get Away With Murder The premiere follows the usual flashforward structure. We see Annalise screaming hysterically about "something". We'll have to wait till later to find out details.

Frank is on the lamb after confessing that he was responsible for Annalise losing her baby in a car crash. Her hubby Sam (whose murder was the focus of season 1) used this to blackmail Frank into doing all manner of dastardly deeds. Annalise sends a PI after a clean shaven Frank. She thinks he also sniped Wes' biodaddy Mahoney at the end of last year. Is she planning to kill him? She tells Bonnie "no" but Annalise cannot be trusted. Things dont go as planned though. Frank is a seasoned killer and gets to the guy first.

Wes has a new girlfriend and is trying to stay away from the Annalise's craziness (but that doesnt last long). They two make up over a screaming session. Michaela gets a DUI and Annalise bails her out. Laurel cant leave well enough alone and keeps texting Frank. Asher is destitute since his mommy disowned him. He's actually having to work for a living (since Annalise turned him down for a loan). Connor and Oliver look like they'll break up. Bummer. I like those two together. Annalise promised Connor she would never hire Oliver but since they're not together anymore all beats are off. Soon they'll have to change their name to the Keating Six.

Annalise starts a new law clinic and of course the MurderKids join up. It seems all their grades are suffering. It's hard to find time to study when you're out killing people (and they were first year students to boot). Their first client is... wait for it... it's Annalise herself. She reveals this to the classroom is a dramatic fashion-- her photo with the word "KILLER" written underneath. But as usual, things are not as they first appear. Someone is stalking Annalise and putting these posters up all around town. Given the number of enemies she has, it could pretty much be anyone.

Now back to the scene we saw of Annalise earlier. She returns home to find her house on fire. A body is carried out. Any bets on who it could be? And do we have to wait all season to find out?

Grade: 4 Monsters (out of 5). A good start to the new season. I'm not sure how long this show can keep going though? I have very much enjoyed it but what else new can they do? I know ABC wants to milk the show for all it's worth but three seasons might be enough. I hate it when they take a beloved show and run it into the ground-- and it looses everything that made it great in the first place.

There are 15 episodes total in season 3. I may not review the show weekly but I definitely plan to keep watching. Annalise continues to be one of the most compelling figures on TV.
