I must say I am pleasantly surprised how much I like "The Tick". It's full of humor, weird dialogue and strong characters. "The Tick" (Peter Serafinowicz) is not your normal superhero. Sure he has "powers". He's surprisingly strong and can leap great distances. But he's not the smartest guy in the room... which he readily admits. That's why he needs to team up with someone who will be the brains of the operation. Arthur Everest (Griffin Newman) is the perfect pick.
It was hinted int the beginning of the beginning of the show that the Tick was a manifestation of Arthur's damaged psyche. No one else saw the Tick. That was soon disproven though as Arthur's sister Dot and the bad guys acknowledge his existence.
Miss Lint (AKA Angry Lightening Lady)
Another villain, Miss Lint, is currently working for Ramses IV. He's really some guy from Minnesota who's obsessed with Egyptian mythology. Ramses makes everyone in his gang get a creepy eye tattoo (ala Mike Tyson). Miss Lint refuses cause she's got her own eye thing going on. He never lets her live this choice down. Miss Lint gets her nickname because all the electricity she generated causes particles to be attracted to her all the time-- very annoying.
We seriously need more Miss Lint (played to perfection by Yara Maratinez from "Jane The Virgin"). She steals virtually ever scene she's in. Luckily "The Tick" has already been renewed for a season 2 and Lint has been promoted to a season regular. Yeah!
Grade: 4 3/4 Monsters (out of 5). Excellent. "The Tick" is just what the doctor ordered. It's surprisingly silly and sweet. I wont give away all the specifics of the plot here. You should just watch it. The six 30 minute episodes are a very small time investment. And best of all, this Tick wont give ya Lyme Disease.
