The Killing Season 2 Overview: We FINALLY Learn The Identity Of The Killer/Killers

We FINALLY got some answer in "What I Know". It's been along time coming. Many viewers were NOT happy about the cliffhanger in season 1. See my review here: The Killing Season 1

On to the highlights... Believing he killed Rosie, Belko Royce (Stan's friend) shoots Darren Richmond and paralyzes him. Belko later kills himself at the police station. Time is spent watching Richmond first feel sorry for himself and then reenter the mayoral race. I'll repeat the same thing I said about this story line in season 1. I know it's tied to the murder but I dont care about Seattle politics. Please move on!

Linden ends up in a mental hospital for the second time. The first was after sending a man to prison for murdering his wife. Their traumatized son witnessed the event and keeps drawing the same picture over and over again. Linden is overcome with guilt over the man's false imprisonment... but more on that later. And is Sarah's fiance also her psychiatrist? Isnt there some rule against that? In related news, what happens to son Jack? He goes off to Chicago to live with his father and is never seen again.

Various other secrets are revealed. Rosie is not Stan's biological daughter. Rosie was not working as an escort (as had been suggested). She instead was a maid at the Indian casino. Stan kills the mobster father of Rosie's teenage boyfriend.

After 26 episodes (which in the show's defense is only 26 days), the identity of Rosie's killer is revealed thanks to a broken taillight. After a massive number of misdirections, Terry (Mitch's sister) is "technically" the killer. IRosie overheard Jamie (Richmond's aide), Chief Nicole Jackson and Terry's married boyfriend Michael Adams discussing some underhanded dealings to make money off a waterfront project. Darren (who first seemed like the killer but was later declared innocent) is also not as pure as the driven snow.

Jamie kidnapped Rosie, chased her through the woods, beat her and throw her in the trunk of a car. I'm glad karma caught up with him by way of Holder's bullet. It was however Terry who did the deed and put the car in neutral where it rolled into the lake. Rosie died a horrible death by drowning. Terry did not know it was Rosie in the trunk but she was more than willing to let a random girl die in order to protect her own happiness. Terry's confusion to a horrified Mitch and Stan was a serious punch in the gut. Excellent scene! I still have feels over it!

Grade: 4 Monsters (out of 5). The show took it's own sweet time in revealing the killer. After two seasons of lots of rain, lots of Linden's sweater, and lots of smoking, we FINALLY learn the identity of Rosie's killer. In a heartbreaking reveal, it turns out to be Rosie's Aunt Terry. Was I satisfied with the conclusion? Yes but I binged the show on NetFlix. I'm not sure those who watched it weekly on AMC have the same opinion.
