Wynonna Earp Season 2 Episode 1-2 Reviews: As Badass As It Gets

Two episodes into season 2 and I'm still L-O-V-I-N-G "Wynonna Earp". It's fun, sexy and super campy. The stories are fresh and the quips are hilarious. "WE" continues to be one of the highlights of my TV viewing week. And that's saying something given all the "peak TV" options these days.

"Steel Bars And Stone Walls" catches us up after the finale in which Wynonna kills sister Willa and fights a giant demon worm (or something). Waverly goes all dark eyed and Officer Haught dodges Willa's bullet by wearing a bullet proof vest. Dolls is carted off by the mysterious Black Badge agency.

Now Wynonna is reeling from Willa's death. Doc (minus his hat because it was eaten by a pumpkin headed monster) distances himself from the sisters. He's busying purchasing Shorty's Saloon (after blackmailing Agent Lucado for the down payment money). Mysterious friend Rosita is going to set up a lab in the basement. Are they going to make the same serum Dolls was injecting? Lucado has a hit on Xavier that her bosses dont know about. Will Dolls be back? Doc knows more about the situation than he's letting on. Also what is Xavier exactly? My money is on some kind of LizardMan.

Waverly is unsure of her heritage (Bobo told her she wasnt an Earp). Her relationship with Nichole is a bit strained. Officer Haught senses something is awry. When will Waverly go all goo-eyed and off someone? Does she even know what is happening to her?

In "Shed Your Skin" the mystery deepens. High school frenemy Mercedes arrives in town. She has purchased their school which she plans to convert into condos. Unfortunately the building is inhabited by giant demon spiders and two mysterious mist creatures. Wynonna has gotten glimpses of one and thinks it's Willa haunting her.

Highlights of the episode include:

Wynonna and Waverly's slow mo walk about bashing some demon spider eggs. More please! Let's just hope they washed all that green spider slime off.
Doc and Wynonna get cozy in the decontamination bath. Wynonna moves in for a little smooch but is giving the hand (and not in a good way) by Doc.
Speaking of Doc, it seems like lab tech Jeremy has a crush on him. Is there more to Jeremy than meets the eye? So far the only other thing we know about him is he has an inverted nipple.
Waverly and Nichole have their first fight and then makeup sex. I thought they had consummated their relationship previously but who's complaining? Not me. I just hope Evil Waverly doesnt do something bad to Haught while she's in a compromising situation. I just love those two kids. #WayHaught 4Eva
At the end of the episode, Waverly goes all goo-eyed and eats the giant spider they were keeping in a jar. Ewww! No... just no.

Grade: 5 Monsters (out of 5). "Wynonna Earp" continues to be a breath of fresh air. It was number 10 on my Top TV Shows Of 2016. If it keeps up the pace, "WE" will be even higher than year.
