Imposters Series Finale Review: See Ya Soon, Macaroon (Or Not)

We've come to the end of Bravo's "Imposters". Season 1 was spent with the Bumblers (Ezra, Richard and Jules) and the FBI (Patrick) attempting to track down con artist extraordinaire Maddie. Season 2 has the three amigos in Mexico and later teaming up with Maddie, Max and Sally to take down the Doctor once and for all. A new con (and love interest of Ezra) named Sophia joins them as well.

We get brief glimpses of fixers Lenny (Uma Thurman) and ex-hubby Shelly (Paul Adelstein) Cohen. I would seriously watch a spinoff with just these two.

It should go without saying that no one on this show can be trusted. Case in point, it appears Sally is secretly working with the Doctor. He calls a videoconference with the team. The Doctor is going to hide from the FBI but in order to so, he needs a body for them to find. Max has impersonated the Doc previously-- at Maddie/Saffron and Patrick's wedding. So what does Sally do? She turns and fills Max full of holes. Who can blame her? As you will recall, Max turned Sally over the Doc for termination last season. Everyone screams and starts running around. But have no fear. It's another con. Max is still very much alive.

The plan is now to take the wedding ring that the Bumblers stole last season and plant it on the Doctor for the FBI to find. Everyone seems with the blame except for Maddie. She wants the Doctor dead for all the pain and suffering he has caused. An added bonus of the finale were all the Marilyns hired to work the doctor's award ceremony. Maddie of course poses as one of them. Fun visual!

In the end the Doctor is killed by Sally (instead of Maddie). Maddie thinks she's gotten away again. While leaving town on a train Patrick sneaks up behind her and handcuffs Maddie. Is she resigned to the situation or will she escape yet again? Patrick was in love with Saffron so she might be able to sweet talk him. The Bumblers go their separate ways but agree to meet up again in six months. Ezra has all the burner phones. The Doctor's phone rings. Ezra answers. Is he going to start a new career as the Doctor?

Grade: 4 Monsters (out of 5).  Bravo has canceled "Imposters" so the season finale "See Ya Soon Macaroon" is in fact the series finale. I think the ending is appropriate. I'm not sure where else they could go since the Doctor is dead. All in all, I definitely enjoyed the story. The characters are fun and have a great rapport with one another (especially the Bumblers). Plus, I'm a total sucker for any show about con artists.
