Into The Dark Season 2 Review: Definitely Check Out "Pilgrim" And "Nasty Piece Of Work"

"Into The Dark" is a horror anthology series on Hulu. Presented by Blumhouse, each movie focuses on a holiday in that month. See my previous reviews here

Helpful Hint: I continue to be frustrated with the search function in Hulu. You cant type "Into the Dark" in the search box and find all the movies. You'll have to search for each movie title individually.

Season 2 begins with the October entry. The episodes include:

  1. Uncanny Annie- Halloween- A Halloween board game turns bad. Really nothing new here.
  2. Pilgrim- Thanksgiving- Excellent! A woman wants her family to appreciate their privilege so she hires historical re-enactors to pretend to be Pilgrims. Let's just say they take their jobs a little too seriously.
  3. A Nasty Piece Of Work- Christmas- Also really good. Hits a little close to home for anyone who has sold their soul to corporate America.
  4. Midnight Kiss- New Years Eve- A typical slasher movie but it takes place among a group of gay friends
  5. My Valentine- Valentines Day- Valentine is a pop star whose identity has been stolen by her abusive ex boyfriend Royal and his newest creation Trezzure (who looks exactly like her).
  6. Crawlers- St Patrick's Day- A group must try to survive body snatching aliens.
  7. Pooka Lives- Easter/ AKA Pooka Day- The return of the very popular Pooka from season 1. Starring Felicia Day, Wil Wheaton, etc.
  8. Delivered- Mothers Day- This one could be ripped from the headlines. A pregnant woman befriends another. Everything quickly goes south when its' not friendship the other woman is looking for.
  9. Good Boy- Pet Appreciation Day- A depressed lonely woman (Judy Greer from "Halloween" 2018) decides to get an emotional support pet.  The cute little guy is good company at first. When people who do her wrong start dying in gruesome ways, she's left to clean up the crime scenes. .
  10. The Current Occupant- Independence Day- A severely injured guy with amnesia wakes up in a mental hospital. Is he really the President? If so, why is he being held here against his will? It was good to see Krondon Jones III as the orderly .I love that guy! The premise is interesting but the show ran out of stream in the middle.
  11. Tentacles- was supposed to air in August but production was shut down due to Covid 19. We may only get 10 episodes total in season 2.

Grade: 4 1/2 Monsters (out of 5). The sophomore season (like season 1) continues to be a mixed lot. You never know what you'll get with each entry. There were two excellent movies this season- "Pilgrim" and "A Nasty Piece Of Work". Definitely check them out. I also enjoyed "Delivered" and "Good Boy". For fans of Pooka, hes back with an all star cast (Felicia Day, Will Wheaton) in "Pooka Lives".
Will there be a season 3 of "Into The Dark"? I cant find anything online about it but I would not be surprised if its canceled (as many shows have been due to Covid-19).
