ZNation Season 2 Episode 15 Review: All Good Things... (Season Finale)

"All Good Things Must Come To An End" closes out an excellent sophomore season of "Z Nation". The episode begins with Citizen Z frantically trying to contact Operation Bite Mark. They must abort the mission. Their location has been compromised. Z sets out across the frozen tundra with his trusty doggy sidekick. We later see him looking very frozen (if not dead) when a mysterious figure approaches.

Meanwhile the team is at the diner when a new group arrives. The want to claim the reward for "Murphy". The real Murphy is hilariously disguised in women's clothes. When one of the guys wants to dance, all hell breaks loose. Murphy psychically orders the fake Murphy zombie to bite the leader. Unfortunately 10K gets shot in the process.

The diner lady "Auntie" signals Dr Merch (who is in a submarine offshore with what's left of the CDC lab). Murphy proves he is the real thing by reminding Dr Merch of the conversation when they last met. In typical Murphy fashion, he threatened to eat her brains. Murphy (and 10K) leave for the sub with the soldiers.

It looks like our team might get a little well deserved R&R when they are ambushed by the Zeros and La Reina. Dr Kurian's head (in a box) led them to the restaurant. A giant battle ensues with Auntie helping the good guys (until she's shot and turns into a zombie). Addy and the Zero-In-The-White-Suit-With-The-Skull-Stick battle it out. It looks like he might get the best of her when Addy whacks him in the family jewels. Case closed. Next Reina and Warren fight. El Scorpion saves Warren by stabbing La Reina through the mouth. Why is he being so nice? There are a few tense moments until Vasquez decides not to seek revenge for the deaths of his wife and daughter (at least not now). I dont care how much EScorpion says he's reformed. DO NOT trust that guy.

Back on the sub, the commander tells Murphy that all the world's governments have collapsed. Zona is the group in power now. They are desperately trying to save mankind. Remember we heard of them back at Area 51. Apparently there is a zombie free island on which humans are repopulating. I'm not sure all their motives are pure though. Murphy looks around the control room. All the soldiers have strange glowing eyes. Merch says its a side effect of an early vaccine.

10K awakens to the sounds of an alarm. Our team (with the addition of EScorpion and the subtraction of Vasquez) arrives at the beach. They see the sub explode. A boat quickly motors away. Murphy is on board and has bitten everyone (including Merch and the captain). 10K is nowhere in sight.

And once again, our team is captured.. by someone. How many times does this make? I've lost count.

So in summation, many of the group members are separated. Roberta, Addy, Doc and EScorpion are captured. Vasquez is off on his own. 10K is missing. Citizen Z may have frozen to death. Murphy has a boat and some new zombie slaves.  And in the final scene Murphy's baby is having a tea party with two zombies. We hear her giggle and say "bad zombie!". I cant wait to see her again.

Favorite Quotes:

  • "Perhaps this will jog your memory. Pike me. Pike me. Pike me or I'll hunt you down and eat your brains"- Murphy proving to Dr Merch that they have met before.
  • "Warren, come get some mercy."- La Reina.
  • "Ding dong, the bitch is dead."- Doc upon seeing a dead La Reina.
  • "It's the apocalypse. Let's have some fun."- one of Murphy's best lines of the series.

Grade: 4 Monsters (out of 5) Not the completely over the top finale like we saw last year, but still a great effort. Season 2 has really knocked it out of the park with their over the top campy fun. Thank goodness "Z Nation" will be back next year.
