Witches of East End Episodes 9 Recap: A Parching Imbued Is A Strange Name For An Episode

When we last saw Freya, her soul was almost sucked out by Penelope (aka Athena). Freya has recovered but now she is without powers. The witches try to cast a spell to recover them (incidentally they all looked smashing in their white dresses) but that didn't work.

Wendy goes to Los Angeles to speak with a professor named Victor. He reluctantly agrees to come back to East End. There we find out he is... Freya and Ingrid's father. OK but are ya sure? Those girls don't look much like each other. And is everyone on this show immortal and just leading ordinary boring lives?

Joanna and Victor try to cast a spell to get Freya's powers back but it almost kills Freya so Joanna makes them stop. Joanna says she would rather have Freya with no powers then lose her. Freya does not feel the same way and is mad at her mother.

Meanwhile Library Research Guy (MIke) stabbed himself in the leg in order to get Ingrid to prove she is a witch. She reluctantly heals him. That guy wants to go to Asgard really, really badly. I predict he will be bad news later.

Penelope is still lurking around. First she's in the basement of Fairhaven collecting that strange plant/root/whatever. Poor Doctor Amy happens by (she has been researching it's origins with Dash) and Penny kills her. Of course we all suspect Dash is evil and is in cahoots with his mother.

There is wedding rehearsal dinner for Dash and Freya. Penelope makes a little speech. Why didn't she just come out and say "I plan to kill everyone in this room" and then do an evil laugh? That would have been funny. Later Killian comes to see Freya. Yes we know they are meant to be together and he is really the "good brother".

The girls think that Victor abandoned them (because that's what Joanna told them). Can their relationship be salvaged? Also Joanna and Victor share a kiss so they still have feeling for each other.

And now we know what "A Parching Imbued" means. It's an anagram for Ingrid Beauchamp. Mike arrives unexpectedly at her house and says SHE is the second key. And he really, really wants to get to Asgard badly so we all know where this is leading.

Joanna had painted a picture of who the shifter was. Penelope of course finds it during the dinner. Can no one lock doors around here? She changes it from a picture of herself to a scene of the Fairhaven catacombs so that's where the showdown will be in the final episode. I can hardly wait. That Penelope is one crazy immortal shape shifting chick.

Grade: 3 1/2 Monsters (out of 5). Only one episode left (12/15) until the end of the season. Luckily they'll be back for a season 2. Did I mention I love this show? Cause I do.
