ZNation Season 2 Episode 7 Review: Beware Of Zombie Jams!

"Down The Mississippi" opens with two thugs stopping a dental truck. The dental techs offer to give the men an exam saying "A healthy mouth is a happy life". Side Note: "Dentistry" is spelled "Dertistry" on the side of the truck. Anyway, as the baddies succumb to the effects of laughing gas, the dental chairs rise up and are quickly dump them into the back of the truck. Great visual! I definitely didn't see that coming.

Next Operation Bite Mark heads out on the water after finding a chatty man with a boat. A paddle boat approaches. Hey, we know those guys! We last saw Sketchy and Skeezy on "Welcome To FU Bar". They also gave Addy her first Z whacker way back in season 1. S & S have supposedly been in Memphis looting Graceland. They also have some stories about a 7 foot tall shape shifting Murphy. This doesn't sit well with the "real Murphy". Obviously these two have a problem with the truth.

Zombie Jam!

Sketchy says there are "zombie jams" all up and down the Mississippi. For those that are uninformed, zombie jams are pileups of zombies in the water. They can't die so they just hang out there until dislodged. As predicted, the boat hits one. Time to abandon ship. 10K jumps overboard and later find Sketchy. They run back into Skeezy (who they initially think is a zombie but he's just stuck in a hole).  It's hard to tell with Skeezy since he's rail thin and a mess normally.

That's Gotta Hurt

Some locals show up and point guns at them. Sketchy passes Skeezy off as "the Murphy" in order to keep from being shot. He convinces the men that Murphy's bite will make them immune to zombie attacks. Skeezy bites each. They must remain immobile for 48 hours in order for it to "take". Too funny!

The rest of the team survives but they are on the other side of the Mississippi. Doc refuses to give up on 10K and takes off alone in search of him. They plan a rendezvous spot. If Doc cant find 10K they must continue on with their journey to California. I love Doc! And Murphy still hates 10K for killing Cassandra.

Sketchy, Skeezy and 10K steal the previously mentioned dental truck. They head to a nearby community and encounter Mr Burr. He's the self proclaimed mayor of the redneck town and babbles about the "war of Northern aggression". The townsfolk hire drivers to find unsuspecting victims to turn into zombies. They are then used to power a wheel which generates electricity.

Is This Poor Guy Ever Going To Get A Girlfriend?

10K meets a woman. These encounters usually dont end well. 10K tells her he knows the real Murphy She seems impressed.  Her husband is one of the zombies on the wheel. She wants to give her husband mercy and burn Burr Town down.

Just when everything is going well, the two dental techs show back up and accuse our guys of theft. The judge arrives. He is none other than eScorpion. We're never going to get away from that guy and the Zeros are we? The three stand trial.

A Simple Defense Strategy

Sketchy goes off babbling in his own defense. It made absolutely no sense-- chemtrails, cell phone records, etc. Too funny. One of the best lines is "I would not try to distract you with random facts and figures cause you'd see right through that". We think he'll get off scott free but just then the locals that Skeezy bit arrive.

I Didn't They'd Get This Far In The Hanging

The verdict is now "death by hanging". The trap doors are sprung and Sketchy, Skeezy and 10K begin to hang. Roberta and gang show up just in time. The girl from Burr Town alerted them to 10K's location. Everyone safely escapes. 10K rejoins our crew. Sketchy and Skeezy stay behind to fight off the zombies with some heavy duty gun power. They have a very Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid ending.

I'm Sure We'll See These Two Again

Grade: 4 Monsters (out of 5). This episode was more of a filler but I'm not complaining. I still love "Z Nation". Sketchy's tall tales were funny but the show is best when the core group is together. We didnt get to see nearly enough of Murphy this week. The zombie baby has to be back at some point too...doesnt she? And just a reminder, next week's episode entitled "The Collection" has a zombified George R.R. Martin. Can't wait!
