ZNation Season 3 Episodes 12-13 Reviews: Bonus Points For Bedazzled Zombies

"Doc's Angels" is the best stand alone episode to date. Doc has always been one of my favorite characters but his encounter with a trio of scary ladies was great fun! The episode begins with Doc hearing a radio transmission. As he approaches their location, he's attacked by what appears to be bedazzled zombies. They have rhinestones and sequins everywhere. OK, that's new. It's harder to kill these zombies because bullets bounce off of them. Doc's close to biting it (pun intended) when three women rescue him. Linda, Sarah and Camilla have a great setup and pamper Doc to the hilt (including feeding him some delicious stew).

But as with everything else doing the zombie apocalypse, things are NOT what they appear. Sarah shows Doc her scrapbook. There's pictures of her husband with a Colombian necktie (and this was before the ZA). Hmm. Doc tries to use the radio. He doesnt know it yet but the wires are cut. Doc is worried but hangs in there. He and the ladies have sexy times because it's the apocalypse and why not?

The longer Doc stays the more evident it becomes that something is seriously wrong.  Are the women angels of mercy? Uh... NO!  They're bloodthirsty cannibals with a bedazzler gun. They have decorated their home with human skin, bone and hair. Uh oh. Now they're reenacting "Texas Chainsaw Masssacre" Run, Doc run!

And he does. He finds people trapped in the basement. One has skin missing. One is tied by his hair. And one has a pot plant growing out of his head. Doc sets them free. We think they'll stop the women but nope. They still come after Doc who climbs a radio tower. They patiently wait for him below. Doc knows he has to escape stat. He rocks the tower back and forth until it lands outside the compound. The last we see if Doc he is quickly biking away in a pink robe.

In the second episode, "The Siege of Murphytown" the gang is all together minus Addy (who is chasing The Man and a kidnapped Lucy) and Doc (who successfully radioed Citizen Z about the situation). When Warren and Murphy meet, there is the usual animosity. He tries to bite Warren to make her a Blend. She has other ideas. Warren rescues 10K and gives him more of the vaccine. Did it work? We're not sure. He's sees Red and Crow Boy again. But they are hallucinations, right? Nope, it turns out they are real and 100% alive. Not sure how that works but whatever. I'll roll with hit.

In other news, Murphy is looking very stylish with his peroxided hair and black P coat. He knows how to dress for a zombie apocalypse.

Just when there's about to be a showdown, Citizen Z arrives with Kara's Uncle (who is a pilot). Z tells them all about Lucy. They now agree to ban together and find her. We also learn Citizen Z is going to be a daddy. Kara is pregnant. I'm happy for the couple but I'm worried this might be a setup to kill off Citizen Z. Oh no!

Grade: 4 1/2 Monsters (out of 5). I LOVED Doc's encounter with the three ladies. Very creepy. And the bedazzled zombies were brilliant. Did anyone notice one of the women was Debra Wilson Skelton from "Mad TV"? She was the bald, heavily tattooed one. Debra's a great actress and comedian. I hope to see more of her. It's been way too long. The second episode was OK but it got everyone together for the final showdown (which I assume is Operation Bitemark vs The Man). There are only two episodes left this season (15 total).
