Channel Zero No-End House Episode 5 Review: My New Favorite Obsession

Next week is the finale of "No-End House". I must confess to REALLY enjoying this season. After an underwhelmed season of "Candle Cove", "No-End House" has consistently hit it out of the park. The story is unique, the actors are top notch and the novel imagery adds a frightening new dimension to the show.

If you're not familiar with the premise of "No-End House", check out my episode 1 review here Going into episode 6, we have Margot, Jules, Seth and The Father still standing. Dead are JD, Fake JD, Dylan, and Lacey.

Last week the Father escaped the house and is now free to wreak havoc in the real world. What will he do to keep from starving to death? For starters he removes the memory of Margo's puppy and begins to eat it's tapioca goodness. Ewww, gross. I continue to be amazed at how intermittently creepy and sympathetic John Carroll Lynch can be. That guy is super talented.

The teenagers try to kill Fake Dad in the way he actually died (an allergic reaction to medication) but that sucker is hard to kill. Margot agrees to go back to the house in order to keep The Father from killing Seth.

Meanwhile Jules is MIA for a while. Once she decides to go back to the house to help Margot, it was gone. We still dont know the deal with her. What is that big orb that keeps eating her memories? Where are her family members in room 6? We don't see any of them. We also only see them as distortions in the real world. The use of blue/blood blobs to depict this was an interesting effect.

I also dont understand Seth. How does he know so much about the house? He says he entered the house a year or so ago? We see his house-made-family in a cage in the room 6 neighborhood. I'm still not 100% that he didnt create the house. If nothing else, he's guilty of luring people to the house so it can eat their memories.

Can't wait to see what happens next week. Who will survive and will they have any memories intact when they do? Will Margot forgo all memories of her father? This would be particularly devastating given she just learned her father committed suicide in order to provide financially for she and her mother.

Grade: 5 Monsters (out of 5). "Excellent! No-End House" has become one of my new favorite shows. It sets a new standard for horror TV. If they dont' blow the finale they will end up on my yearly "best of" list.
