The Walking Dead Season 7 Episode 13 Review: Carol Is FINALLY Back In The Game!

After a tremendous season premiere (y'all know what happened) "The Walking Dead" settled into it's typical pattern. The showdown with Negan is inevitable. We just have to slog along on various side missions until all the pieces are in place. With three episodes to go in season 7, we're almost there. Hang on everybody. H-a-n-g o-n.

The Kingdom continues to make weekly produce deliveries to the Saviors. Benjamin gets some air time. Uh oh. That means he's a goner. At the drop off spot, Negan-Mid-Level-Manager-Gavin says they're one melon short. How could that be? They had 12 to start with. All their weapons are confiscated by the Saviors. Uh, N-E-V-E-R give up your gun. These guys are such amateurs!

The situation becomes very tense. Someone has to pay. Richard volunteers but Ben is shot in the leg instead. Remember, the Saviors enjoy punishing innocent bystanders. Ben is rushed back to Carol's house but it's too late. He dies. SIDE NOTE: How many other people have been mortally wounded on this show and lived? Carl only has one eye for Christ's sake! How bout some consistency "TWD"?

Anywho, Ben's death sets off Morgan who reverts back to his psycho killer ways. Being all "zen" during the zombie apocalypse is probably an unrealistic goal. I never bought that either Morgan or Carol would take a vow of non-violence.

Morgan finds out Richard stole the melon. Say what? First Richard tries to get Carol killed (and is narrowly thwarted by Daryl) and now this. I dont like you Richard! I know Richard wants to start a war and die a hero and all... but those are some really stupid plans. At least he was considerate enough to dig his own grave.

The group heads back to the drop off spot and delivers the missing melon. Morgan then proceeds to strangle Richard to death with his bare hands. Powerful scene. Morgan quotes Richard's own words from their previous conversation. He convinces the Saviors that Richard was a traitor but everyone else is 100% Negan.

Back at the Kingdom, Morgan tells Carol what happened to Abraham and Glenn (and the various other red shirts). Carol heads back inside the compound. A highlight of the episode was when she whacked five zombies with a "One Way" sign. Symbolism much??? She tells Ezekiel it's time to fight. Get it together Zek. Time's a wastin'.

Morgan trades living quarters with Carol. He whittling his staff into a spear. The Kingdom better be glad they have Morgan and Carol since they suck at defending themselves.

Meanwhile Rick is corralling the various communities. Besides Alexandria we have: Hilltop (where Maggie and Sasha currently are), the Scavengers, the Kingdom and Ocean Side (Tara is about to give up their secret). We also have unrest in the Savior camp. Will Dwight, Gavin and Negan's wives defect? Plus Eugene is still there and he's bent on revenge.

Grade: 4 1/2 (out of 5 Monsters). "Bury Me Here" was an excellent episode that FINALLY produced some movement (unlike the rest of the season). Carol and Morgan are back and ready to kick ass. We'll have to wait till the season finale, season 8 premiere or possibly even later to see it. Negan is not going to be easy to kill.
