Legends of Tomorrow Season 3 Mid Season Review: All Hail Beebo God Of War!

Fresh off "Crisis On Earth-X" the Legends finish off their midseason with a fun episode. 1992's Martin Stein somehow ended up in 1000 AD. Vikings have just arrived in the New World. They decide Martin's Tickle-Me-Elmo knockoff (a Hannukah toy for daughter Lilly) is their new god. The Vikings (including Leif Ericson and sis Freydis) plan to permanently set up camp in the good old US of A. They change the country's name to New Valhalla. Instead of Christmas, we now all celebrate Beebo Day.

The heroes eventually manage to right the anachronism but things are never as easy as they appear. Damien Darhk (wearing a blond wig and calling himself Odin) shows up with daughter Nora in tow.

Sarah is transported to another dimension where she encounters Mallus. Remember him? Agent Sharpe goes against Time Bureau policy and rescues Sara. Is Sharpe going to join up with the Legends? And more importantly are she and Sara going to become an item? If so, I'd ship it.

Jackson is desperate to stop Martin's death. He gives Stein a sealed envelope which reads  "dont open until November 28, 2017". This is when Martin is killed. But it doesnt work. Stein accepts his fate and encourages Jax to do the same. Surprisingly Jax leaves the ship to go live his life. But not before the crew sets down for a Christmas (NOT Beebo Day) dinner with their found family.

And in the final scene Constantine appears to Sara. He needs help with a girl who is possessed by a demon (who knows Sara's name). Is Constantine going to join the Legends? See my previous reviews of his stand alone show here

Grade: 4 1/2 Monsters (out of 5). I continue to love this quirky show and it's great sense of humor. Favorite moments include:
  • Leo and his Stein puppet. Not sure it helped anyone process their feelings of lose over Martin's death but it was hilarious.
  • A levitating Beebo (powered by Atom) giving the Vikings a mini religion and science lesson. "Global warming is real!"
  • Will Snart stay on the ship for a while? His nagging Mick about his drinking was entertaining. Both miss their old partners and are trying to navigate a new friendship.
"Legends of Tomorrow" returns in February. It moves from Tuesdays to Mondays at 8 (since "Black Lightning" is taking it's current time slot). "SuperGirl" will air at that time for four weeks beginning January 15. "Legends" will resume on February 15 and continue until April 16. "SuperGirl" will then finish out it's season ending June 18th. How's that for confusing?
