What We Do In The Shadows Review: Why Is This HILARIOUS Movie Not A TV Series Yet?

"What We Do In The Shadows" is a 2014 horror/comedy mockumentary from Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement. The movie takes place in Wellington, New Zealand where four vampires share a flat. They are:

Petyr- a 8000 year old vampire that looks like Nosferatu. He's not very social and lives in the basement closet. Petryr is exempt from house meetings and chores.
Viago- a 379 year old who pines after his long lost love Katherine. She is an old woman now but Viago only has eyes for her. Viago is quite the dandy and prefers frilly blouses.
Deacon- a 183 year old who thinks he's a rock star. Deacon has a familiar (Jackie) that does errands for the group-- yard work, procuring victims, etc. Jackie is frustrated that Deacon has never turned her into a vampire despite continually promising too. He tries to hypnotize her into forgetting... which doesnt work so well.
Vladislav- a 863 year old who's trying to give up torture as a hobby. He's in a constant battle with something called the "Beast".

Sure they're supernatural creatures but the guys have their share of problems. Whose turn is it to vacuum and clean up blood splatter? Where can they meet girls? Remember, they cant enter an establishment without being explicitly invited. What should they wear to the Unholy Masquerade? They dont have reflections so cant check out their attire They also have conflict with a local pack of werewolves. Being a vamp is not as easy as one might think.

Jackie lures her childhood boyfriend (Nick) to the house but Petryr inadvertently turns him into a vampire. Nick and BFF Stu try to expand the group's horizons by taking them to bars, showing them how to use a computer, etc. I fear Stu will be eaten at some point. Nick draws too much attention to the group by flying around outside the house and telling everyone he's a vamp. What could possibly go wrong?

Grade: 5 Monsters (out of 5). Excellent! This quirky little movie is a cult classic. Sure these guys are bloodsuckers but they're doing their best to adapt. Life has completely passed them by (literally). When will NetFlix turn "WWDITS" into a TV series? We need to see more of the vamps-- especially bat fights! A spinoff starring the werewolves/swearwolves is currently in production.
