Sleepy Hollow Episode 11 Recap: Got A Demon Problem? Try Salt.

This episode "The Vessel" reminded me of the movie "Fallen" with Denzel Washington (especially the scene in the park). In that story demons could also jump from body to body by way of physical contact (making them almost impossible to defeat without a little trickery). If you haven't seen the movie, definitely check it out.

Anyway, a demon named Ancitif (OK I dont know how to spell his name) was previously in Sleepy Hollow and spent some time in Abbey's sister's Jenny's body. Sheriff Corbin helped exorcize the demon seven years ago. We know this from a video he left behind (remember salt is the key). Now said demon is back and at it again. He wants Captain Irving to retrieve George Washington's Bible that was buried with Ichabod or, if not, he will do something terrible to his daughter (Macey). After some more body surfing Ancy inhabits Maceys body. There's nothing scarier than a child possessed by a demon. Well come to think of it some children normally act like demons, so in that case it's hard to tell. Anywho, the crew eventually use Ben Franklin's lantern to send Ancitif back to Hell. Yeah, I know it doesn't make sense to me either. This is "Sleepy Hollow". Don't ask questions, just go with the flow.

Next week will be the two part season finale. Will it be a smackdown George Washington Demon Fighter (cause he doesn't appear to be dead) vs Moloch and his minions? If so I think Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter should join in for good measure.

Random thoughts:

  • Jenny spent all that time locked up so the demon inside her wouldn't harm Abby? Now that's sisterly love people!
  • Ichabod tries skinny jean and terms then "constrictive trousers". I feel your pain, Ichy.
  • What is the significance of the date December 18, 1799 George Washington wrote in the Bible (which was apparently done after he died)?
  • RIP Father Priest and assorted red shirt cops.
  • "Gentlemen, we don't wish to violate your Constitutional rights but we must commandeer this lantern"- Ichy to the militia members who had Ben Franklin's lantern.
  • I need to brush up on my Aramaic so I know what's going on.
  • Where is Katrina? Will we see her next week?

Grade: 4 Monsters (out of 5). I would have given it a 3 1/2 but it was extra creepy. There are only 2 episodes left in the season but both will be shown next week.
