The Scorpion Cast
"Scorpion" is a new show on CBS. It airs on Mondays at 9 ET (so it's opposite "Sleepy Hollow" which is strike 1). The show centers around a group of geniuses who each have specialized skills. Walter O'Brien (Elyes Gabel) is the main character. He had his first runin with the government back in childhood when they discovered him hacking NASA to get the blue prints for the space shuttle for his bedroom wall. There's also Toby who is a Harvard educated behaviorist (whatever that means). Happy is a mechanical prodigy. Sylvester is a human calculator (but also has OCD). While that's a cool parlor trick I fail to see how he can help with the imminent threat of the week. There's an app for that. Walter encounters a child and his waitress mother (Paige). They join the team since only Walter and company can help Paige deal with her gifted son. Scorpion's government handler is FBI agent Cabe Gallo (Robert Patrick of "X Files" and "Terminator" fame).
Together they must save the world each week. Week 1 has them devising a plan to save all the planes from falling our of the sky. Since they successfully accomplish that, the team begins to work for Homeland Security (well isnt everyone these days?). During Week 2 they must keep a governor and his daughter from dying due to an act of biocyberterrorism.

Most Of The Show's Time Is Spent With The Cast Looking Up Stuff On Computers And Then Talking About It
I had hopes for the show but to be honest I'm just not feeling it. I dont particularly like any of the characters. I'm finding the "we're special because we're geniuses" shtick to be too much. Yes we know you're special and socially awkward. But I dont think we mere mortals need you to save us from ourselves each week.
Perhaps Katharine McPhee Is Thinking How Did I Get On This Show (And More Importantly How Can I get Off)
Grade: 2 1/2 Monsters (out of 5). I thought the show might be interesting but it isnt my cup of tea. I think it has potential but would need some retooling of the script and cast changes. Oh and Walter is based on a real life computer prodigy (not that anyone cares).
