ZNation Season 2 Episode 10 Review: We Were Nowhere Near The Grand Canyon

The episode opens with a great fight sequence. Roberta and Vasquez shoot/slash their way through a bunch of zombies and then get all hot and heavy. Roberta nibbles on his ear and Vasquez turns into a zombie. Well, a major mood killer. Luckily it'd all a dream. I'm looking forward to when those two actually get together.

Operation Bitemark has made their way to the Grand Canyon. There they encounter the zunami (a MASSIVE horde of zombies we first saw last season). 10K and Doc get separated from the team and end up with some Native Americans. Gordon is the leader of the small group that is hiding near the cliffs. Ayalla  is his sister. Doc has some peyote with a Medicine Woman. Major tripping occurs. Gordo strings 10K and Doc up outside their camp so they can act as a zombie early warning system. Luckily Doc is able to fend off the z's thanks to the mind expanding properties of the drugs. Ayalla rescues them and heads to her father's place.

Addie, Murphy, Warren and Vasquez end up at the Northern Quest Casino Resort. They try to warn Danny Firecloud (he's Gordon and Ayalla's father and the tribe's chief) about the impending danger. Firecloud is sure the reinforcements to the building will hold. Everyone evacuates except for Danny. He and now deceased his wife built the place from the ground up and he will not abandon it. Ayalla watches from the distance as the casino collapses in about five seconds flat. Uh, I'm not sure that would actually happen but let's roll with it. This show is not going for realism, ya know.

The group returns to the cliffs. Gordon says the only entrance has been blocked so the zombies cant get in. He makes the false assumption that z's cant climb.  Just then, blasters come raining down from the sky. They are trapped. Doc has an inspirational idea after looking at the rock drawings by the tribe's ancestors. They set a line of fire which redirects the zombies to fling themselves off the cliff by the thousands. Great visual but I dont think that will kill them. The group better make sure there's no way for the zombies to get out. Murphy is very upset about the zombies fate and cries. Roberta tells Murphy he needs to decide which side he's on-- the one that's keeping him alive or the one that's trying to eat his brain.

We catch up with Citizen Z who hasn't been around much of this season. He's busy fighting off zombies at the Arctic Circle. His trusty dog is still by his side. Z runs out of ammo and Warren walks him through how to use a bazooka to wipe out one zombies. That seems lilke a waste just to use on one zombie...but no one asked me.

Grade: 3 1/2 Monsters (out of 5). A slower episode but I'm not complaining. They are entitled to a few fillers (in an otherwise excellent season). In other news, "Z Nation" has been renewed for a season 3. Yeah!
