Lost Girl Season 5 Episodes 9-10 Reviews: Saving The World For The Umpteenth Time

The final episodes of "Lost Girl" are FINALLY airing on the SyFy channel. Why we had to wait so long after they aired in Canada, I have no idea. It's been some seven months (but who's counting)?

Bo has Zee (Zeus) locked behind a door. She keeps screaming "You dont know what you're doing". Bo of course opens the box she's not supposed to. Yep, for the umpteenth time the world is in danger and it's up Bo to save everyone. You'd think they'd come up with a different plot by now... but I guess not.

Trick's plan is to use a shield that's made out of some Ancient-proof material. Lauren and Tyson try to help a seriously wounded Mark. Tyson is obviously distraught over his son. Eric Roberts (also known as Bo's daddy Hades) arrives claiming to be a doctor. Hades has previously been hanging out in Tartarus.

Tamsin is being held hostage by Hera (hanging out in Kevin's body) and Zee. Tamsin instigates some trouble. Here and Zee fight. And with a lightning bolt to the chest, Hera is out. Zee frees Tamsin.

Bo and Hades track Iris down at the gym. Just a reminder that Iris is actually Girl-Zeus and Boy-Hera's daughter and can end the world with one touch (if she's not restrained with a bracelet). They try to reason with her but that doesnt work. Hades then strangles Iris and the evil spirit (Nyx) is pulled from her body and trapped in the music box. Iris/Cece is unfortunately dead as s result.

At the end of episode 9 Lauren is standing in the middle of the street declaring her love for Bo. Just then a SUV comes barreling out of nowhere and mows her down. She looks like a goner but the sucks the chi out of Bo. And end scene.

But have no fear. Everyone is OK by the next episode. Surprise! Kenzi returns and she looks hotter than ever. She brings Hale's grandfather Heathcliff. They've traveled from Spain and believe the Ancients can escape into a painting know as "The Vanishing". Off Bo and Kenzi go to the art museum. Kenzi pretends to be a tour guide with hilarious results. Bo gets all Catherine Zeta Jones and slithers through a laser filled room. That was a fun scene. But once she gets to the painting there is Persephone. Remember she tricked Bo into lighting the candle that released Hades in the first place.

Vex shows up for a little TLC. Lauren realizes that she is absorbing the powers of the faes around her. First it was a succubus. Now it's a mesmer.

Tyson is getting cozy with Kevin's wife Alicia. Kevin is still in a coma. Mark spills his guts about the fae.

Long story about the painting but basically Lauren saves the day but singing the siren song (thanks to borrowing Heathcliff's powers and banishes Zee). But it's all a fake out. Hades rips off the top painting to reveal one underneath.

Episode Guide:
Episode 9: "44 Minutes To Save The World"
Episode 10: "Like Father, Like Daughter"
Episode 11: "Sweet Valkyrie High"
Episode 12: "Judgement Fae"
Episode 13: "Family Portrait"
Episode 14: "Follow The Yellow Trick Road"
Episode 15: "Let Them Burn"
Episode 16: "Rise"

Grade: 3  1/2 (out of 5). We have embarked on the final eight episodes of the series. I'm not sure why it was divided into two parts. Many long term fans (such as myself) have moved on to other shows during the break. Don't get me wrong. I'll still watch it till the bitter end but I would have been more enthusiastic without the break in the middle.
