Gotham Season 2 Episodes 21-22 Reviews: Who Runs Indian Hill? (Season Finale)

I havent been reviewing "Gotham" regularly but wanted to recap the end of season 2. The last two episodes were entitled "A Legion Of Horribles" and "Transference". The Dr Strange/Indian Hill story line was one of my favorites.

Selina sneaks into Arkham and finds Bridget/Firefly. She initially tries to toast Selena but they eventually work together. Meanwhile Jim, Bruce and Lucius Fox are captured when they try to infiltrate Dr Strange's lair.

Dr Strange brings Fish Mooney back from the dead. She's still a badass but now has some sort of special psychic powers. It's always great to see Jada Pinkett Smith. Who else missed her saying "I'm Fish Mooney, bitch!"?

Clayface (Basil) pretends to be Jim at the police station. He is revealed by Barbara (when she slaps him and his face goes all squishy). Meanwhile Dr Strange and Mrs Peabody try to move all the patients/inmates by bus to another facility. Strange plans to set off a bomb and blow the secret facility to smithereens.

We learn Dr Strange is the "Philosopher" who was responsible for Bruce's parents' deaths. But is there more to the story?

Theo Galavan (ie Azrael) is successfully raised from the dead thanks to Dr Strange and Project Chimera. Azrael kills a few people with his sword. He also stabs his sister Tabitha and Barnes (who both live). Azrael is later killed by a RPG wielding Butch. The Azrael story felt a bit flat though. Am I the only one?

Strange instructs Mr Freeze to kill Jim and the others. He and Firefly fight but cancel each other out. Gordon and crew stop the bomb in time by pouring water on it (thanks to help from Nygma and Mrs Peabody). Who knew water could be used to defuse bombs?

The bus escapes Indian Hilll and crashes. The police and Butch's men are hot pursuit. Upon seeing Fish Mooney, the Penguin passes out. We see in shadows Dr Strange's experiments wandering about. We hear the Joker/Jermone and see a kid with long hair that looks exactly like Bruce. Hmmm this should be interesting.

Where exactly is Leslie? She got preggers and headed somewhere "down south". Jim is off to look for her. Bullock will stay at the GCPD. On an interesting side note, Morena Baccarin who plays Leslie is pregnant IRL with Ben McKenzie (Jim Gordon).

Penguin was great as always this season. The scenes with him and his newly discovered father were touching. And the murdering of his step family (and then living with their bodies) was a hoot. I know that sounds harsh... but they deserved it.

Grade: 4 Monsters (out of 5). Season 2 was a lot more fun than season 1-- thanks to the introduction of a number of the villains. I really enjoyed Dr Strange (B.D. Wong). Penguin and the Riddler were great to watch. Some of the other regulars are growing on me as well.

Oh and to answer our original question of "who runs Indian Hill"? Since Strange is in custody, I guess we dont really need an answer. I'm glad Strange's creatures were not killed (as the Court of Owls... err the "secret council" suggested).
