Fear The Walking Dead Season 2 Episode 13 Review: Hug It Out People!

This week's episode entitled "Date Of Death" didnt have many (err, make that ANY) zombies but it was high on emotional moments. The zombie apocalypse is rough on families (especially if they werent stable to begin with). Travis tries to protect Chris but to no avail. Madison has a heart-to-heart with Alicia. Strand, Ofelia and Nick are MIA this week.

We check in with Chris, Travis and the Bro-migos. As you recall, Bro #3 was shot by the farmer that Chris then killed. Travis says James will survive if he gets a little R&R. Brandon and Derek think otherwise and plot to kill him. Nice friends...NOT! Travis tries to protect the kid but it's a losing battle. They shoot him in the head.

Chris and Travis have a deep conversation. Travis thinks Chris is "broken". Chris says he's doing what's required to survive in this cruel new world. Travis is the one who's out of touch. He might have a point. Travis is way too soft to make it on his own. Travis begs Chris not to leave but he drives away with the dudes anyway.

At the hotel we see the aftermath of Madison's plugging in the hotel lights. Just as predicted, they act as a beacon to those nearby. People storm the gates pleading to be let in. It holds for now but looks very flimsy. All the newcomers have to do is walk down to the beach and enter that way. There's no fence there.

Travis appears at the front gate. They let him in. Everyone could have just stormed the fence when it opened... but no one asked me. Travis is a broken man. He initially refuses to tell Madison what happened to Chris. Is he dead? Nope, Chris is headed for San Diego.Travis feels like a failure as a father. Uh... Chris is a psycho. Let him go before he kills you.

Their conversation prompts Madison to come clean to Alicia. Her father was not killed in a car accident. He instead committed suicide and left a note which read "I love you all but enough is enough". Who else thought it would say "I like Chris best"? Too funny! I'm not sure what telling Alicia this now is supposed to accomplish? If you want to repair your relationship with your daughter, try treating her with a little TLC (and stop yapping about Nick all the time).

And in the final scene guess who shows up at the gate? It's the bros. Chris is nowhere to be seen though. Is he dead or is this just another fake-out?

Grade: 4 Monsters (out of 5). I surprisingly enjoyed this episode... despite the fact there were ZERO zombies. The family drama was high. Travis realizes that he can no longer protect Chris from himself. Madison reveals a big secret to Alicia. On a side note, does anyone else find Kim Dickens portrayal of Madison to be very wooden? Was this a directing choice? I know she's supposed to be tough but it is the ZA after all. You're allowed to be a little cray cray. Even in the scene at the pier with Alicia, Madison was distant. I do like Kim Dickens.I hope they give Madison room to grow. Otherwise it's hard to relate to the character.

There are only two episodes of "FTWD" left this season. They will both air on Sunday. Any guesses as to how the season will all end? I think they will be forced to flee the hotel and head back to the US . Ofelia and Chris were also heading that direction the last we saw of them.

Will any major characters die during the finale? I know a lot of people want Chris to die but he would make an excellent villain. There is foreshadowing that it might be Madison. She told Alicia on several occasions that she was just fine without her mother.
