Scream Queens Season 2 Episodes 1-4 Reviews: Exit Red Devil, Enter Green Meanie

Season 2 of "Scream Queen" is currently airing on Fox. I wasnt sure how they could possibly tie season 2 in with season 1 (after the Chanels were sent to jail for the murders that Hester/NeckBrace and her twin brother committed). Thanks to a crazy story, the Chanels are released from prison when NetFlix makes a documentary on their wrongful imprisonment. Special Agent Denise Hemphill tricks Hester into confessing to the crimes. Someone needs to explain the meaning of "double jeopardy" to that girl.

The Chanels are free but still have a PR issue. Everyone hates them. Luckily Dean Munch starts a hospital called C.U.R.E and invites the Chanels to join her as medical students... because why not. Zayday is also there (but she got into med school the hard way). We meet two physicians. Dr Brad Holt is played by John Stamos and Dr Cassidy Cascade is played by Taylor Lautner-- but more on them later. Kirstie Alley also serves as Head Nurse Hoffel but we havent seen much of her yet.

Instead of the Red Devil we now have the Green Meanie (GM for short). Yep, you heard that right. He's a big green thing with horns and a cape that leaves lots of green glowy footprints where ever he goes. We've not sure why the Green Meanie's offing everyone. Maybe he's seeking revenge for how the doctors treated a pregnant woman and her husband many years ago. Or maybe its one of the other countless people they threw in the swamp behind the hospital. Either way, we learn of a 1986 Halloween massacre where all the staff was killed so he's been at it a while.

It is revealed that Dr Brock has a transplanted hand... from a serial killer squash player of course. It's always trying to attack people. Dr Cascade thinks he's dead and tries to provide evidence to support his diagnosis. Chad Radwell shows up. It turns out he's actually thirty something years old. Dont ask. He and Dr Brock have a naked discussion about who loves Chanel more. Hilarious!

In terms of actual patients the team ends up with a werewolf girl (here whole body is covered in fur). She is cured and ready to lead a normal life. Unfortunately for her, the Green Meanie arrives and lops off her head. Next up is a woman who has continual orgasms. It sounds like a good problem to have in theory but not so much in reality. She's cured by Dr Cascade and is ready to tell the world. Too bad GM throws his machete from down the hall and slices off her head. Next up is a guy covered with warts. He and Chanel #5 start a thing. But it doesnt last. The Meanie has other plans.

Sure, we expect the patients to get knocked off but then Meanie starts on the regulars. First up is Chad who is killed right before his wedding to Chanel. Interestingly his entire family is also killed in a plane crash. The Radwell family fortune reverts to Chad who changes his will the night before his death. All the inheritance suspiciously goes to Dean Munch. Did she kill Chad and his family? Anything is possible since she's killed before.

Munch, Denise and the Chanels visit Hester in prison. Great scene! It's a spoof of "Silence Of the Lambs" complete with Hester in a plexyglass cell. She will tell them who the killer is in exchange for a transfer to C.U.R.E. and a room with a view. They eventually agree... cause how could this be a bad idea?. Related Note: Lea Michele knocks it out the park this season. She's delightfully psycho. More screen time please.

It's Halloween. Chanel tries to combat her grief over Chad's death by doing her annual Chanel-O-Ween. You'll recall from season 1 that she sends her social media followers horrendous presents (which they all love). This year Chanel gets the gifts from the morgue. They include such things as "Diseased Whore Heart".

Green Meanie and Hester (dressed as Ivana or Ivanka Trump... who can tell the difference) are running around the hospital. Meanwhile a blue Chanel #1 (yep, she's really blue) and Denise hold a seance to see who Chad loved most. Chad takes possession of Denise's body. Chad loved Denise best and will reveal the killer in two secs... you'll never guess who it is... opps nevermind, he's gone.

Hester first stabs #5 and leaves her for dead. She still has some kick in her and calls for help. Special Agent Denise Hemphill arrives. The Green Meanie stabs her in the back. Hester sees GM and leaves. Do they know each other? GM then "shock paddles" Denise OVER and OVER again. Is she dead? If so, I'm going to be super pissed. She's my favorite. We'll have to wait till November 15 to find out for sure.

"I was surprised when I tried it (Chanel's wedding dress) on and it fit like a glove cause you and I have different body types. My body type is 'woman' and yours is 'malnourished Victorian paperboy'".
"The next morning I woke up on my back covered in puke and I realized I did die. And now I'm cursed to walk the Earth for all eternity. Like a Highlander."- Dr Cascade.
Chanel: "Let's get this body down to the meat locker." Chanel #3: "Last time we tried to hide a lot of bodies in a meat locker, like every one of them got stolen."
Denise: "If you want to catch a killer you have to get in the mind of a killer. Or in Zayday's case under the weave of a killer."
"Oh come on. You've got to be kidding me. From now on when someone has fought off a killer and they're about to reach down and pull off the mask to reveal the killer...it's not the time to distract them with a bunch of questions."- Munsch.
"So a large plant murdered Ms Hobart and then attempted to murder you before you passed out."- Detective to Chanel #5.
"I'm basically female Viagra."- Dr Cascade.

Grade: 4 Monsters (out of 5). Did "Scream Queen" need a season 2? Definitely not. Season 1 stands on it's on. Season 2 is still fun though. Fans watch "Scream Queens" for it's campy characters, sassy dialogue, over the top plots and pink (LOTS OF PINK) fashions.

The ratings are low though so I suspect this season will be the last. That's a shame because I LOVE Special Agent Denise Hemphill (Neicy Nash). All of the other characters are great but she's a cut above the rest. If they kill Denise my enthusiasm for watching the remaining 9 episodes will be diminished.
