We're a third of the way through the season (12 episodes total) and "Wynonna Earp" continues to knock it out of the park. Season 1 was great but they've really stepped it up a notch this year. The chemistry between the characters is smokin' hot. #WayHaught 4EVA. The story lines are hilariously campy. The snarky one liners come so fast, I can barely keep up. The show can do no wrong in my book. Just dont think about killing Waverly or Nicole or we riot! The last two episodes "Gonna Getcha Good" and "She Ain't Right" gave Dominique Provost-Chalkley a chance to showcase some additional skills. Her cheerleading routine left Officer Haught and the rest of the world speechless. Nicole's response was perfect. "Wow... Baby, that's everybody's thing".
This week Waverly goes undercover with Lucado. The mission is to retrieve a briefcase stolen from BBD. We're not sure of the contents but it once belonged to Grandpappy Earp. It turns out DPC has the voice of an angel. More of Waverly singing please! Is there nothing the woman cannot do? On a related note, no it was not lost on us that Waverly's help phrase is "Tacos are tasty! Tacos are tasty!"
In other news, the team puts down a demon scarecrow (Marzanoik) that lives in a high school trophy. Don't try to make sense. Just roll with it. We're introduced to Mercedes Gardner (a high school frenemy) and her two loser siblings-- Beth and Tucker (who is a major perv and has a thing for Waverly). I hope he dies and very slow and painful death. What demons have taken over the three? We know it has something to do with the two smoke monsters (Ladies in Black) that surrounded Mercedes last week.
Meanwhile Gooverly (the goo infected Waverly) has Dolls tied up in the Earp barn. She is also building an impressive collection of shiny silver stuff for some reason. Nicole tries to talk to Wynonna about Waverly's personality change but is rebuffed. Wynonna eventually comes around after Dolls mentions the same thing. Speaking of Dolls, what is he exactly? He's injected with the serum Doc and Rosita have been working on. I thought Dolls was some kind of lizard but now he's spewing fire. Is Dolls a dragon? And what is up with Jeremy? Can he start fires with his mind? I dont believe anyone in Purgatory is normal. Since Jeremy now knows their secret (or at least one of them) he'll be around more often and can continue crushin' on Doc.
What's up with the demons that stole the Black Badge briefcase? The woman is called Cujo and the man has some sort of bizarre bonesaw appendage. He doesnt waste any time in chopping off Waverly's hand. EEEEKKKK! Does Dominique have to pretend to be missing a hand for the rest of the series? Nope, it seems Goovly has some serious regenerative powers. Tada! It's back and good as new.
Back at the Earp homestead, the sisters unlock the briefcase. Inside is a plate. Say what? I'm sure we'll find out more later. Wynonna tries to talk to Waverly about whatever's going on with her. Gooverly appears and says that Waverly is no fun and is putting up a major figh. She then kisses Wynonna (NOOOO, that's your sister for Christ's sake!) and transfers herself to Wynonna. Goononna is going to have lots more fun. An unconscious Waverly is on the ground. Dont even think about doing anything bad to her Goo! Grade: 5 Monsters (out of 5). Perfection! "Wynonna Earp" continues to be my favorite obsession. Dominique Provost-Chalkley was excellent in these two episodes. And having Wynonna become possessed will give Melanie Scrofano an opportunity to shine as well. I'm curious though. Since Goononna can't hold the Peacemaker, who is going to kill the demons. It can't be Waverly since: 1. We're not sure she's really an Earp; and 2. Don't you have to be 27 to use it? I believe Waverly is several years younger. And what is group of demon smoke monsters after? In the previews more amass. Maybe they're trying to open a hellmouth (looking at your "Buffy"). I can't wait till next Friday to find out.
