Killjoys Season 3 Premiere Review: You Are Not The Monster, We Are!

"Killjoys" returns for another season with a kickass premiere entitled "Boondoggie". When we last saw our favorite space bounty hunters, Johnny was MIA after the death of Pawter Simms. I too was sad. He ran off with Clara (but eventually told Dutch his whereabouts).

Dutch is making good on her promise of killing all the HullenHeads before they turn humans into "some sort of parasitic puppet race". As you will recall Dutch and Kylen poisoned some of the green goo at the end of last season... and Khlyen also croaked. This goo should not be confused with the black goo that is reeking havoc over on "Wynonna Earp". It's important to keep our goos straight. Anywho, Dutch and D'Avin are joined in their quest by Pree (I LOVE that guy), Fancy, Alvis and Turin. Along the way they pick up a kid named Pippin at the Veluvian Steam Baths in Leath. That was a fun scene!

Johnny tracks Claire via GPS coordinates to Rat City. Unfortunately all he finds is her gun-arm (named Alice) and it's attached to someone else. The woman (Ollie) reveals that when she woke up in the Factory it was attached. They visit an underground hackmod community for answers. There they learn about the mods caste system and Johnny ends up with a laser finger. I guess that could come in handy. They devise a plan to blow up the Factory.

Meanwhile Dutch and company turn the tables on a Hullen hive. The Head Hullen Honcho thinks she'll easily dispatch Dutch. Think again! Dutch turns the tables saying: "War is coming. Humans might be weak but we sure as shit don't like to lose.. You are not the monster. We are."

In the final scene we see a large number of Hullen ships hidden in the snow. What are they waiting for? D'avin presses a hidden button and in he goes like a pro. Remember there is something special about his blood/DNA that rejected the Hullen goo back when Khylen tried to turn him into a Level 6. Who knows what else he has in store.

Grade: 4 1/2 Monsters (out of 5). "Killjoys" continues to be a delight with fun stories and kick ass action. I just hope Johnny doesnt stay separated for too long. The team is best when they're all together. We also have yet to officially meet Khlyen's daughter and Dutch dobbleganger Aneela. Hopefully soon. There are only 10 episodes total so it's a relatively short season.
