Future Man Episode 1 Review: Who Knew The Cure For Herpes Would Lead To The Downfall Of Civilization?
"Future Man" is one of Hulu's latest original offerings. It tells the story of loser Josh Futterman (Josh Hutcherson from "Hunger Games") who still lives in his parents house, works as a janitor and spends all his time playing the video game Biotic Wars. That is until he finishes the highest level. Then the two main characters (Tiger and Wolf) return from the future. The game was actually a recruitment tool to find the one person who can save the world. And yes, you guessed correctly. It's Josh. The travelers mission to stop Dr Kronish from developing a cure for herpes. Don't ask! He coincidentally works at the same lab as Josh. And off they go... for 13 episodes.
Grade: 3 1/2 Monsters (out of 5). "Future Man" isnt a horrible show. I was just hoping for hard core scifi and got a comedy with sci fi/pop culture references instead. Seth Rogen (who brought us "Sausage Party" and "This Is The End" among other things) is the producer. Some of the scenes are cute. Tiger and Wolf not knowing anything of present day life is fun. There's just not enough here to keep me coming back for 13 episodes.
