Hannibal Episode 2 Recap: Amuse-Bouche (or Mushroom Casserole Anyone?)

If nothing else "Hannibal" is making me learn new vocabulary words by looking up the culinary titles to its episodes. Per wikipedia, an amuse-bouche a single, bite-sized hors d’Å“uvreAmuse-bouches are different from appetizers in that they are not ordered from a menu by patrons, but, when served, are done so for free and according to the chef's selection alone.

Abigail Hobbs from episode 1 is still in a coma. She may have helped her father kill all those other people. And since when are non family members allowed to hang out in comatose patients rooms? Sure Will feel free to move in there.

This episode has one twisted killer-- a pharmacist who selects diabetics that he wants to put into a coma so he can fertilize his mushrooms. Eeeewwww. Something about returning to mycelium (fungus) and that they're all connected blah, blah, blah. Anyway he wants to bury Abigail in his shroom garden. Will stops him by shooting him in the arm. He says Will was supposed to understand him. No one understands ya, ya freak!

Will is troubled by shooting Jacob Hobbs. I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. Just don't shoot any innocent people. Jacob wasn't worried about who he killed.

The tabloid reporter Freddie Lounds is stirring up trouble. I predict she will have a nasty end. Why is she working in the nude? Put a towel down. She may be as crazy as the rest of them.

And people for God's sakes please STOP eating any food that Hannibal prepares. That was not loin.

Wikipedia:

Episode 2 "Amuse- Bouche"
Now as a special investigator working with the FBI, Will Graham helps to find a murderer who uses his victims as fertilizer to grow mushrooms. Tabloid blogger Freddie Lounds (Lara Jean Chorostecki) snoops around the crime scene and Dr. Lecter's office to write a story about Graham, which the killer uses to stay a step ahead of the investigation. Meanwhile, Graham and Dr. Lecter discuss their mutual feeling of responsibility for Abigail Hobbs while Graham begins to open up to the doctor.

Grade: 4 Monsters (out of 5). An interesting episode with another crazy killer. I also enjoy the opening sequence. It's very Girl With A Dragon Tattoo- ish.
