The Strain Season 2 Episode 6 Review: Guess Whos Here To Save The Day?

"Identity" begins with Mr Quinlan making an appearance out of the back of a shrimp truck. The homeless guy trying to figure him out was a hoot. Quinlan later visits the Ancients and basically berates them for being stupid. They should have gotten rid of the Master centuries ago. Now Quinlan is going to kick the Master's ass but needs some human helpers. I suspect Team Abe will fit the bill.

Reggie Fitzwilliams joins Fet, Nora and Zack back at the hideout. Zack is his usual bratty kid self. We're reminded of his asthma. He also manages to have a bonding moment with Nora.

Being Friends With Eph May Prove Hazardous To Your Health

Meanwhile Eph is in DC looking for someone to disseminate the anti-strigoi drug. He meets up with his old friend Rob. Eph does the nasty with a pharm exec named Lee. So much for being true to Nora! They head home for round two. Rob is laying dead on the floor and the gunman is still in the house. Lee is shot and killed. Luckly Eph fights off the hitman before he's next (although I think he takes a bullet to the shoulder). Luckily the assassin brought his phone with him. How convenient that the lock screen is the Stoneheart Group logo.

Gus is still hanging out at the Indian restaurant. He has the hots for Aanya. I know Angel used to be a famous Mexican wrestler and all but it looks like the poor guy can barely move now. They are attacked by vamps in a hallway. Gus quickly dispatches with both of them with an axe and gun. Angel thinks maybe Gus isnt so bad after all.

The Best Part Of This Show

Nora and Zack spend most of the day hanging out and getting new (used) clothes. They run into Feraldo (who isnt looking so good). On their way home, the police car is attacked by Kelly and the Feelers. Nora and Zack run into a church and call for reinforcements. The spider children crawl up the side of the church and let Kelly in. That was a fun scene. I just love those whacky kids. Abe, Reggie and Fet arrive to help. Unfortunately Reggie gets stung in the leg. He knows he's a goner. Abe whacks off his head before he can change. What's the point of bringing Reggie back if you're going to kill him so soon? Oh well. I guess he's busy over on "Dark Matter".

Why Are Black Guys Always Getting Killed First?

It's no secret that the Master has been on the lookout for a new body for some time. The goth rocker Bolivar is the lucky recipient of a worm vomit bath. Yuck! I'm relieved though. I was worried it was going to be Zack (and as a result we'd have to see a lots more of the irritating child). Eichorst is none to happy that he wasnt picked.

Grade: 3 1/2 Monsters (out of 5). Most of the episode was "meh" but the church scene pushed it up to a 3 1/2. I know we cant have strigoi fighting all the time but this episode seems to have way too much talking. It's the vampire apocalypse people. Less talking, more killing!
