The Walking Dead Season 6 Episode 15 Review: Has Everyone Gone Stupid?

"East" opens with some rare moments of happiness for the Alexandrians. Glenn and Maggie share a shower. Sasha and Abraham change shifts at the guard tower and have a moment. Rick and Michonne enjoy a morning snuggle and an apple.

But not everyone in the community is feeling warm fuzzies. Carol prepares to leave and sneaks out of the compound after Tobin falls asleep. Daryl is still blaming himself for Denise's death. He takes off on his motorcycle. Glenn, Michonne and Rosita follow after him. Then Rick and Morgan take off in a car. All of this strikes me as really S-T-U-P-I-D given the Saviors are nearby... but I was not consulted in this decision. I know "TWD" has to create drama but please give the characters a little credit. They didnt survive this long by making rash decisions.

Anyway, Carol is on the road in a funky spiked car. She drives by five guys in a truck. They blow out her tire. She plays the stupid female again (complete with visible crucifix). It's not all an act though. She's very upset at the thought of having to kill again. She gives them every opportunity to leave her along. They think otherwise. She's an easy mark UNTIL she quickly shoots three of them dead with a gun hidden in her sleeve. She next spikes a guy that's stupid enough to come after her. There's a struggle off screen. We hear shots. When Rick and Morgan arrive on the scene, Carol is gone. Rick finishes off a close to death Jiro. One injured Savior escapes. Everyone else is zombie chow.

Rick and Morgan have a little chat. Morgan says cryptic things like "It's a circle...everything has a return". They encounter a zombie woman in a field with it's back turned. Is it Carol? Nope, thank goodness! Morgan tells Rick to go home. Morgan continues in search of Carol.

Back in Alexandria, Carl (or I like to call him CyCarl) looks at a handgun in the armory. There's a bat with barbed wire engraved on it-- obviously the property of Negan. Maggie gets a haircut thanks to Enid. When Enid asks why she wanted it cut Maggie says "I have to keep going. And I don't want anything get in my way." Suddenly she doubles over in pain. Will Maggie lose the baby?

Meanwhile Glenn and company arrive back at the railroad tracks. Rosita thinks back Denise's death until Glenn tells her to snap out of it. They catch up with Daryl who isn't happy to see them. He's gunning for Dwight in a big way.

The team splits up. Glenn and Michonne are captured by the Saviors. It looks like Daryl and Rosita will come to their rescue. That is until Dwight sneaks up on Daryl and appears to shoot him in the shoulder. Seriously? Is Dwight a ninja or what? Blood is splattered on the camera lens. Then we hear Dwight say "you'll be all right". Is "The Walking Dead" trying to psych us out again like they did with Glenn and the magical dumpster? No one is for-sure-dead until we see their body. I won't be fooled again "TWD"!

Favorite Quotes:
  • "It's a circle...everything has a return".- Morgan
  •  "I have to keep going. And I don't want anything get in my way."- Maggie
  • "When they come for us, we'll end it. The whole thing... The world's ours and we know how to take it"- Rick
  • "Morgan, Michonne did steal that protein bar."- Rick
  • "The world's not what we thought it was-- Hilltop, the Saviors-- it's bigger."- Glenn

Grade: 4 Monsters (out of 5). I would give "East" a lower score due to the stupid situations they put the characters in. However, Carol continues to be a bad ass so extra points.

Next week is the season finale and the introduction of Negan. Bad things will happen. Who will survive? Could the main character (Rick) bite it? He does appear particularly cocky while talking to Michonne about the Saviors. "When they come for us, we'll end it. The whole thing... The world's ours and we know how to take it." I wouldnt be so sure.
