Fear The Walking Dead Review Season 2 Episode 4: Pirates On The High Seas

This week's episode entitled "Blood In The Streets" has the mysterious Jack taking over the Abigail with two losers (one of which is preggo). We later learn they are Reed and Vida. More baddies eventually arrive (Connor etc). Let us pause for a moment. How can a ship full of people in the middle of the ocean let anyone sneak up on them? And then, just stand by stupidly as they take over the boat? Dumb, dumb, dumb, people!

When Strand learns of the situation, he tries to escape in a raft. They shoot it full of holes. Strand clings to the sinking boat in the freezing water. Apparently he cant swim. We then see flashbacks of Strand's life before the zombie apocalypse. But more on that later.

Meanwhile Nick swims to shore, kills a zombie, covers himself in blood and then strolls down the street. I first thought he was looking for drugs but instead he's on a mission from Strand. He locates Strand's contact Luis and they travel back to the Abigail. Luckily Luis is not as stupid as everyone else. He quickly kills two of the pirates. Madison then stabs Reed in the side. Ouch! This of course happens after Travis and Alicia are taken by the baddies to shore. What are they up to? Do you think Alicia is snuggling up to Jack in order to escape? If not, her radio chats are going to get her family killed.

There were some surprising developments with Strand. He first tries to rip off Thomas Abigail. Note the last name. They they become friends and eventually lovers. Strand is trying to get back to Mexico to be with Thomas. How does he know Abigail is still alive? Is that who he was speaking to on the radio? I'm not sure Mexico is any safer than anywhere else (unless Thomas is held up in a fortress and has a lot of men/ammo to defend the place).

Madison fishes Strand out of the water. He's in pretty bad shape and is suffering from hypothermia. Will this kind deed change their frosty relationship?

Grade: 4 Monsters (out of 5). There were too few zombies in this episode for me. Luckily Strand's back story helped increase my rating. I definitely didnt see that coming. It's interesting to see a different side of Strand. We may now see the group separated for several episodes. Hopefully this wont go on for too long.
