Wynonna Earp Episodes 5-7 Reviews: I'm Still Diggin' This Kooky Show

"Wynonna Earp" continues to deliver kooky fun. I dont really care if Wynonna kills all the revenants or not. I just enjoy watching the characters interact with each other.

In "Diggin' Up Bones" we learn the identity of the Stone Witch. She's Bobo's lawyer Constance Clootie Stone. CC wants Bobo to retrieve the scattered parts of two skeletons. In return, she will get Bobo's crew out of Purgatory.

The Witch also made Doc immortal and threw him in the bottom of the well (where he stayed until Wynonna climbed down to retrieve the Peacemaker-- thus freeing him). We still dont know who scattered the bones in the first place and why.

Wynonna helps Fish reunite with his lover Levi and in return he points her to a photo of "The Seven". They are the seven revenants who killed her father. Well, technically she killed him by shooting him in the back (but they were planning to kill him anyway). Wynonna tells Fish and Levi to make their peace and then shoots them (since they're revenants after all).

Wynonna and Doc have sex times. Yep, we knew that was going to happen sooner or later. How does Dolls feel about this?

"Constant Cravings" introduces us to our first two female revenants. Wynonna and Dolls discover a trail of dead bodies which have human bite marks. It seems the murders occur only when the new heir arrive (so we know it's a revenant).

Meanwhile Wynonna inherits a motorcycle from Uncle Curtis (which she's SUPER STOKED about). Waverly inherits a riddle which leads her to a skull hidden in a piano. She's not supposed to tell anyone about the skull except for the Blacksmith. Waverly is now the "Keeper Of The Bones". Oh and she dumps Champ again for the umpteenth time.

Off to the Blacksmith they go. "He" turns out to be a "she". I'm a little fuzzy on what happens here but I think the Blacksmith binds Waverly to the owner of the skull (who is the Stone Witch's son). That doesnt sound like a good idea. On a side note, the Blacksmith (who has some sort of spiritual powers) senses something is up with Dolls. She offers to help (but he decline.

The clues lead Wynoona and Dolls to the owner of a local cafe-- the Tates or Tatenhills. There's the mother (Olive), her daughter (Helly) and son (sorry, I dont remember his name). Mama Olive traps Dolls in her underground layer. She takes a bite out of him but says he's "spoiled" and doesnt eat him after all. Hmmm. Something is obviously up with Dolls given his strange behavior recently. We later see him trying to procure a blue drug from someone who says the higher-ups wont be happy. In the final scene, he injects himself. There's a closeup of his eye. Is Dolls an alien or some other supernatural creature? Is he a reptilian? Very interesting...

"Walking After Midnight" has Dolls sitting out most of the episode. He has been whisked away by her superiors (Agent Lucado). They're not very happy with his performance. He was supposed to give them a live revenant for one thing (and has failed).

Meanwhile Waverly throws a little party but only two of her friends show up (and they dont seem to be very friendly). Everyone else is afraid of the "murder house" (as they refer to the old homestead). Doc is told by a severely injured Blacksmith (we never learn her name) to take Waverly and get far away from the Stone Witch. She also gives Doc a few clues on how to bind her. Unfortunately Doc doesnt take her advice since he's blinded by revenge.

This week Wynonna is on the hunt for a revenant with a cane that has a spade insignia on it. She and Deputy Haught bond in the morgue over the latest victim. At one point, Wynonna gets locked in a freeze and then a spade card appears in the victim's mouth. Wynonna has a few choice words for Nicole. Why is she so interested in the Earp sisters? Is she a good guy or a bad guy? I'm seriously hoping she's interested in Waverly for romantic reasons (and not something darker). I have originally suspected she might be the Stone Witch.

Speaking of the Witch, she arrives at the homestead and wants her son's head back. Both the skeletons we saw earlier are her sons. They were not resurrected with the revenants because they're not human. We have no idea what they are.

CC turns everyone she's killed into zombies (the Blacksmith, her number 2 guy and one of Waverly's friends). Waverly ends up smashing the skull against the house (where breaks into a million pieces). Stoney was close to killing Waverly but Doc shots her. Interestingly he bleeds from the same spot where he shot her. It looks like the two are tied together. If he kills her, he may also die.

Meanwhile Haught really wants Wynonna to confide in her about all the strange happens around town. In the final scene, Doc finds the empty police car rolling along in the middle of nowhere. What happened to Haught and Wynonna? This can't be good.
Favorite Quotes:

  • "What's better than dynamite?" Wynonna: "Boobs!"
  • "Make your peace."- Wynonna.
  • "I'm starting to think sanity is overrated."- Waverly.
  • "There's more to life than crazy, not, toe curling, out of body, back into body, angels singing hallejulah sex."- Wynonna to Waverly.
  • "Only one death scared me and it didnt take."- Doc.
  • "He's not used to acting human."- Wynonna about Dolls.
  • "You know the only thing I hate more than trespassers in an Earp"- the Blacksmith.
  • Hetty: "This curse wont end until you end." Wynonna: "Funny, I feel the same way about you."

Grade: 4 Monsters (out of 5). This show continues to be a hoot. The characters are very compelling and easy on the eyes. They also do a great job with the cliffhangers at the end of each episode. I cant wait to see next week's show.
