Emerald City Episodes 6-8 Reviews: Why Arent More People Watching This EXCELLENT Show?

"Emerald City" just keeps getting better and better. I cant say enough good things about it. The acting, the writing, the costumes, the sets, the CGI are all excellent. Who saw the latest twist coming? I had no idea Lucas would turn out to be Glinda's hubby Roan (with witch-induced-amnesia). Lucas' relationship status is DEFINITELY complicated. He obviously still has feeling for Dorothy. But he stopped her from killing Glinda (in a scene where she was nearly strangled by her own white sheets). Cool visual. That looks like it hurt!

Jack and Princess Ev (now Queen Ev) get closer after her father dies. The Wizard still wants her to make guns so they can defeat the witches. Lady Ev has feelings for Jack but keeps pushing him away with her selfish behavior. She has never had a friend or love interest before. Jack finds out Ev fired Jane when she refused to make ammo. After a fight, Ev releases Jack as her property. He walks out of the palace. We all know Jack will be back.

Over in the witch camp, there are lots of young ones having issues controlling their magic. A number are catatonic after being pushed too far by Glinda. But she doesnt care because Glinda is a heartless witch. Sylvie also seems close to being lost. She refuses to leave with Dorothy when given the chance.

West discovers that Tip has the dagger of Ozma. She/he is apparently the lost princess of Pastoria and heir to the throne of Oz. We see in flashbacks that her parents were killed by Eamonn on orders of the Wizard by. In present day, Eamonn pulls out his old lion armor. Will he turn from his cowardly lion ways?

West has a plan. She tells Tip "We were born for great things you and I. We were born to fly". She whisks them to the crypt that holds all the deceased cardinal witches' spells. Tip will drink the essence of East. Either she will absorb her powers or be killed. It seems to be the latter as Tip dies. West tearfully dunks her body under water. West later lays down and slits both of her wrists. Just when we think it's too late, a drenched Tip arrives saying "It worked". Quick! SAVE WEST! She is my most favorite character on the show. Ana Ularu does an excellent job of making West simultaneously sympathetic and compelling.

Grade: 5 Monsters (out of 5). Perfection! "Emerald City" continues to knock it out of the park. There are only two episodes left. Where it ends is anyone's guess. I am firmly #TeamMagic and Dorothy. I hoping Mother South arrives and shakes things up in a B-I-G-L-Y way. Here's to hoping there is a season 2. I'm definitely not ready to leave these characters.
