Z Nation Season 4 Episode 1 Review: Welcome Back To My Favorite Zombie Show

After almost 10 months, "Z Nation" returns for a fourth season with "Warren's Dream". How I've missed my favorite zombie show! Sorry "The Walking Dead" franchise.

Last year Operation BiteMark was in a bad spot. Zona was after Lucy (because she's a z and human blend). Murphy and Warren were shot. The Man jumped off a cliff with Lucy in tow. Addy follows closely behind. And just then a spaceship arrives. Say what? See my previously reviews here

Now it's some two years later. Roberta awakes from her coma looking all Barbarella-ish. She has long blond hair and is wearing some 1970's white ensemble complete with high heels. Way to work it girl! Murphy's blood apparently healed her bullet wound. Oh and the Murph is no longer blue. He has reverted back to his human self. He tells all their friends (and his daughter) are dead. North American is lost. But Zona has solved the zombie problem thanks to Murphy's blood being used as a vaccine.

Zona is obviously too good to be true. They have golf. They have tennis (and squash). They even have nude Thursdays. There are segways, golf carts and electric cars.

Murphy takes Warren to meet the Founder (Michael Berryman from "The Hills Have Eyes"). He talks about a "reset" for humanity. I'm not sure what that means. The zombie apocalypse did one reset. And with "Warren's Dream", "Z Nation" has also reset its storyline with a time and location jump. The dinner goers enjoy a nice dinner until Warren butchers a chocolate cake with a zombie face made especially in her honor. Obviously Roberta is having some issues with PTSD.

Meanwhile Doc (who has grown a really long beard), 10K and Red are reunited. They are most definitely NOT dead. They eventually meet up with Sun Mei. They're all trying to get to a place in northern Canada called NewMerica. It's too cold for zombies there. The military says its taking people. I definitely dont trust this government (or pretty much any other).

Next Addy (who has lost an eye) and Lucy are traveling the roads kicking ass and rescuing the innocent. That is until they are captured by Zona troops. It seems the two are telepathically linked. Addy has a bite mark on her hand. How is she not a z or a blend though. Is it because Lucy is half zombie?

Warren decides she's had enough of Zona. She tries to escape but just finds the ocean. They apparently are on an island. Then at the end of the scene Dr Teller (remember him?) frantically tells them to leave immediately. Have z's overtaken Zona?  Let's also not forgot Warren's apocalyptic dreams. What does it all mean? And what's up with the giant devil ray?

Missing this week are Citizen Z, his pregnant girlfriend and her relatives. Will we see them again? Maybe they're in NewMerica.

Grade: 4 Monsters (out of 5) "Z Nation" does a successful reset by fast forwarding two years. We still dont know how our crew got out of their predicament last year but hopefully we'll learn later. I'm psyched to see what else the writers have in store for us. I'm hoping to see more of Addy this year. She was MIA quite often last time around.

Z Of The Week: There werent a ton of zombies this week but my favorite is the big rolling ball of z's that wiped out two baddies who were chasing Addy and Lucy.
