GMonsters 10 Most Intriguing TV Characters Of 2014 (The Men)

What is about a TV character that just reaches out and grabs ya? Obviously it's great acting and great writing but sometimes there's just a little something extra. Below is my list of the 10 most intriguing men on television this year. Please leave your choices in the comments below.

See the women's list here: http://gmonster320.blogspot.com/2014/12/gmonsters-10-most-intriguing-tv.html Also check out my top 10 TV shows of 2014 here: http://gmonster320.blogspot.com/2014/12/gmonsters-top-10-television-shows-of.html

10. Daryl Dixon- Norman Reedus- The Walking Dead- AMC- Sure Daryl is a crossbow wielding, zombie fighting redneck. But underneath that exterior is a guy with a heart of gold. Daryl is deeply loyal to those he cares about. When Daryl cries, we all cry. He also has quite a fanatical following on the internet. Dont even think about killing off Daryl AMC or you'll be wishing for the zombie apocalypse. See my "The Walking Dead" reviews here: http://gmonster320.blogspot.com/search/label/The%20Walking%20Dead

9.  Carlos Madrigal- Wilmer Valderrama- From Dusk Till Dawn- El Rey & NetFlix-  Sure the plot of "From Dusk Till Dawn" is all over the place. It's still great horror fun. Carlos has a very compelling screen presence. We want to learn more about what makes him tick. Who knew Fez from "That 70s Show" could be so menacing. See my "From Dusk Till Dawn" reviews here: http://gmonster320.blogspot.com/search/label/From%20Dusk%20Till%20Dawn

8. Philip Jennings- Matthew Rhys- The Americans- FX- As one half of an undercover KGB couple, Philip gets into some tight situations. But sometimes the most compelling scenes are not about espionage. They're about his alienation from his wife and children. Will Philip buy into the American dream after all? See my "The Americans" reviews here: http://gmonster320.blogspot.com/search/label/The%20Americans

7. Norman Bates- Freddie Highmore- Bates Motel- A&E- I was originally skeptical about a series depicting the world's most famous cross dressing, animal stuffing, mommy loving serial killer. But I'm so glad I was wrong. Freddie plays the character with just the right combination of innocence and crazy. Vera Farminga also does a great job as his mother Norma. See my "Bates Motel" reviews here: http://gmonster320.blogspot.com/search/label/Bates%20Motel

6. Ichabod Crane- Tom Mison- Sleepy Hollow- Fox- Yet another remake I was skeptical of. Tom's portrayal of the 18th century Ichabod learning about Starbucks, cars and men's fashions (hello skinny jeans) is hilarious. Also he appears to have known everyone in Colonial America. Take his word for it. Ben Franklin was a jerk. The show has just the right amount of camp and horror. See my "Sleepy Hollow" reviews here: http://gmonster320.blogspot.com/search/label/Sleepy%20Hollow

5. Ragnar Lothbrok- Travis Fimmel- Vikings- History- The "History" channel is not known for its original programming, but this one hit it out of the park. We learn about the historical character of Ragnar and his brood of famous wives and children. Travis portrays Ragnar as not just a farmer or fighter. Under that warrior exterior he's a sensitive guy who wants to see everything the world has to offer. See my "Vikings" review here: http://gmonster320.blogspot.com/search/label/Vikings

4. Frances/Frank Underwood- Kevin Spacey- House of Cards- NetFlix- Thanks to Frank if I see a politician, I'm running the other way. Frank and his wife Claire are the ultimate DC power couple. They will not stop at nothing to get to the top. Why should a little thing like murder/murders keep you from reaching the Oval Office? See my "House of Cards" reviews here: http://gmonster320.blogspot.com/search/label/House%20of%20Cards

3. Murphy- Keith Allan- Z Nation- SyFy- Murphy is the only person to survive a zombie attack (thanks to an experimental medication that was given to unwilling prisoners). The team must rush him to a lab in California so a vaccine can be created. Along the way all sorts of hilarity ensues. Murphy develops special psychic powers and declares himself the zombie messiah. See my "Z Nation" reviews here: http://gmonster320.blogspot.com/search/label/Z%20Nation

2. Oswald Cobblepot- ie The Penguin- Robin Lord Taylor- Gotham- NBC- Yep we all know who the Penguin is so what else could be added to the character? Apparently a lot. Robin plays Penguin as a smart, ambitious criminal who wants to make it to the top of the food chain in Gotham. He is the best part of "Gotham" IMHO. I also enjoy Oswald's relationship with the eccentric mother. See my "Gotham" reviews here: http://gmonster320.blogspot.com/search/label/Gotham

1. Hannibal Lecter- Mads Mikkelsen- Hannibal- Fox- "Hannibal" was yet another remake that I was highly skeptical of. Who could do a better job playing Hannibal than Anthony Hopkins? I am happy to report that I was 100% wrong. Mads brings a whole different interpretation to the character. Younger than the original character, he has a European charm. He's a Renaissance man who enjoys the finer things-- be it dining (which is of course his favorite) or the opera or men's fashions or screwing around with other people's minds (he's obsessed with Will Graham). And a shoutout to the beautiful cinematography on the show. The rich tones and set pieces are works of art. See my Hannibal reviews here: http://gmonster320.blogspot.com/search/label/Hannibal
