Back to our group in 03 AZ. They're heading to Fort Collins, Colorado where Citizen Z thinks Dr Merch (the doc that injected Murphy) was last spotted. As soon as they turn Murphy over to her, their mission will be complete.Murphy contemplates driving off in the van and leaving the rest behind (but he doesnt).
If The Fate Of Mankind Rests On His Shoulders, We're In A Heap Of Trouble
They all discuss what they'll do next. Doc (our doc, not the earlier one) tells Murphy he will miss him. Murphy says he almost considers them friends. Doc freaks Murphy out by saying they'll do medical experimentation on him and "shove a tube up every orifice". Cassandra is busy throwing up. Roberta says she'll follow the sun west. 10K says he still have some 6000 zombies to kill before he can change his name but may up head north (since zombies dont like the cold). Doc wants to find a deserted island. No one asks Cassandra what she wants to do. That's always a bad sign.
They encounter a group of Zs. Murphy rescues the rest of the group by having everyone hug him. They all scurry together into the building. Too funny. Murphy says "you know before the apocalypse, I had the same effect on the ladies". I love that guy!
No one appears alive in the facility. They find the pass code "Red Death" and see that Dr Merch and others were doing animal experimentation a year before the zombie apocalypse.
Pre-zombie Doc is now in some Soviet breakaway nation. He's at an abandoned nuclear facility. The guy on the ground is already dead. Doc says he cant use him so he kills the guy who brought him instead (and extracts his blood).
Citizen Z calls and says they all have to be decontaminated before going back to the surface. If the virus gets outside, the lab will be destroyed by nuclear weapons. They all get naked and decontaminate at the same time. Why, I dont know but its still funny. Next they enter the quarantine area and see all sorts of horrors. The girl covered with flies was pretty nasty. Two zombies have escaped their cells. Murphy tries to talk to them but they are not responsive. They're some sort of mutants and not regular zombies. There's a fight (which we dont see much of). Murphy rips off their heads. Super human strength seems to be something else Murphy has acquired.
Flashback to pre-zombie doc again. He extracts blood from whom I assume is an ebola patient. Then he's over in Haiti doing the same thing to some guy who was in an earthquake. Doc definitely gets around.
Cassandra is getting sicker by the minute. They leave her to rest. Roberta gives her a pistol with one bullet. Murphy visits her last. We dont see that scene.
Next they enter the bio containment unit.Doyle (the lab tech from the video) is there... well whats left of him. He's kinda blobby. Three men arrive. It's Doc from the flashbacks. He says his name is Dr Kurtz. He says Dr Merch didnt make it. Citizen Z looks up Dr Kurtz. It's not the same guy. Our guy is named Dr Kurian and he's a really, really bad guy.
Murphy gives Doyle (ie Patient Zero) mercy. He whispers something to Murphy (but we dont hear what it is). Cassandra arrives. Murphy apparently bit her on the cheek when they were alone. Cassandra says she's not dead. She's a mutant like Murphy. He mind melds with Cassandra and kills the two soldiers. Dr K escapes. Doc is shot in the shoulder and almost dies.
Murphy goes to the surface despite being told by Citizen Z not too. Now a nuclear warhead is headed straight for the facility. And a bunch of nuclear weapons are heading towards Citizen Z.
The Gang In Better Times (Which Is A Relative Term During The Zombie Apocalypse)
So at the end of the episode, here's where everyone is:
- Murphy has shed his skin like a snake and driven off in the van. What does he look like now? I hope its not like poor Doyle.
- Roberta, Doc and 10K drive away in another car. Doc has a bullet wound to the shoulder.
- Dr Kurian is apparently still in the facility.
- Cassandra is still in the facility. She's a zombie hybrid now.
- Mack and Addy see the missiles streaking through the sky. At least they're alive for a few more minutes.
- Citizen Z runs outside where he sees a BUNCH of warheads heading straight for him. His last words are "God I hate the apocalypse".

- "I think I fried my gonads. I should have used sunscreen on my junk."- Doc after being decontaminated. I love him too.
- "God, I hate the apocalypse"- Citizen Z.
Beware Of Zs Until We Meet Again My Friends
Grade: 4 1/2 Monsters (out of 5). Dr K adds some back story about how the apocalypse began. Episode 8 was quite a cliffhanger with everyone in dire straits. I look forward to seeing more hilarious zombie situations next year. Not sure how they'll top zorndaos, zunamis, zombabies, zombears, radioactive zombies and Viagra zombies though.
