Orphan Black Season 2 Episode 7: Family Day Gone Awry

Any Thing You Tell Me Is Just Between Us And The Godhead

This week's episode entitled "Knowledge of Causes, and Secret Motion of Things" is Alison-centric. Hilarity ensues as things go horribly awry during Family Day at the rehab center. Alison unburdens herself by telling her new rehab buddy Vic that she she killed her next door neighbor (Aynsley). Actually she was chocking and Alison did nothing to help her so is that "technically" murder? I'm not sure. Vic of course tells Angie (because he wants his criminal charges dropped). Alison calls in the big guns (namely Felix who then calls Sarah).

It appears that Vic wants to make amends to Sarah (way to work your steps Vic). But instead he wants them to be a couple again. Seriously dude? Lay off the ladies until you've been sober for at least a year. But the conversation ends when Vic faceplants H-A-R-D on a table (Felix had slipped a little something into his tea). That is definitely going to hurt in the morning.

Once of the things that I love about "Orphan Black" (there are so many) is it's quirky sense of humor. This could have been a straightforward "clone in trouble, all hands on deck scene". Instead it had my laughing out loud. Alison and Felix have to move Vic's body since the families will be visiting the rooms soon. And did I mention that Vic's head is covered with glitter and feathers? Angie is also roaming the halls looking for him. Fe and Al finally deposit Vic in a public area so it looks like he's fallen off the wagon. Meanwhile back in the auditorium, Sarah is pretending to be Alison for a family role playing exercise with Donnie. And what's even more entertaining us we have Tatiana pretending to play Sarah pretending to play Alison and pretending to do it poorly. Hilarious.

Donnie FINALLY sees Alison and Sarah together. Instead of coming clean about being a monitor he is completely clueless. He thought he helping with a long term study for a sociology professor. He seriously doesnt know anything about clones. Alison says “You ruined our family! And you’re so stupid, you don’t even know why!” There seems to be some genuine connection still between Alison and Donnie though. Those two knuckleheads may be meant for each other after all.

In other clone news, Cosima finds out that the stem cells being used in her treatment are from Kira. Apparently Dr Leekie got one of her teeth from the hospital after Kira's accident. Cosima is not happy with Delphine for hiding this information from her. She orders Delphine out of the lab. It's trouble for the love birds. Sarah agrees to bring Kira to Dyad to help Cosima. Kira pulls another tooth out to send to Cosima. That little girl is tough. Meanwhile I guess Cal is just aimlessly roaming around in his RV until Sarah tells him she needs him again?

Who Is This Woman And What Is She Up To?

We meet Marion Bowles. She apparently is Rachel's boss (and Rachel is Dr Leekie's boss). The Dyad Institute sure does have a complicated corporate structure. I'm going to need to see a flow chart of that.

Mrs S visits Dr Leekie. Is there anyone that woman doesnt know? Dr Leekie can get the info he needs from Ethan IF he promises to call off the hunt for Kira. He agrees. This of course means Rachel will find out the Ethan is still alive (and Leekie killed Susan and tried to kill Ethan all those years ago). But Rachel wouldnt hold a grudge...would she?

Rachel and Dr Duncan have a heart to heart. It would be a touching family reunion if Rachel had any feelings. It appears that Marion had ordered Rachel to kill Dr Leekie. Rachel says "Do not get in your car, do not go home. You might survive. It’s foolish to spare you. But you raised me. Nurture prevails."

As Leekie is walking down the street, Donnie pulls up in a car. They discuss the monitoring situation. Dr Leekie calls Donnie a turnip. And its bye bye Aldous. There is blood splatter all over the window. Donnie didnt mean to kill Leekie but he's as dangerous as his wife is.

Helena was not seen or referenced in this episode. Did everyone forget about her?

Favorite Quotes:

"We're developing an artificial womb. It's a bit of a hobby of mine"- Dr Leekie. "I like pottery"- Paul.

"What have we there"- Mr S. "Everything Mrs Sadler, everything"- Ethan.

"I cant go to jail. I don’t have the temperament. In the shower, if they touch me, I will cut them.”- Alison to Felix.

"He looks like he's been molested by elves"- Felix about Vic's appearance after falling face first onto a glitter and feather filled table.

“And I’m being Alison being Donnie?”- Sarah trying to figure out what she's supposed to be doing during role playing.

"This is my lab, my body. I AM the science"- Cosima to Delphine.

Grade: 4 Monsters (out of 5). I've said it before but I just love this show. It keeps getting better and better. Extra bonus points for Tatiana pretending to be Sarah pretending to be Alison pretending to be Donnie during role playing.
