Colony Episode 10 Review: Gateway To Season 2 (Season Finale)

Los Angeles is under lock down as the Transitional Authority desperately searches for the missing "VIP". Drones begin to destroy the city. Luckily Maddie, Sam and Gracie make it to the Green Zone and the protection of Nolan. Why did he have yo invite cray cray Lindsay as well?

Bram is separated from the others and heads to his teacher's place. That kid is way too interested in finding out what's happening on the moon. He's soon deterred by the Red Hats in the underground tunnel. Dumb Bram. Very dumb.

Snyder knows he will be killed and is resigned to his fate. He visits his estranged daughter and tries to give her a pass to escape LA but she refuses. She'll never forgive Snyder for how he treated her mother. I'd be interested to hear that story. Snyder gives the pass to Will instead.

Elsewhere Charlie and some other muchkins attack a guy for his backpack. The kid has gone feral.

Kate and the Resistance cell (Broussard, Eckhart, BB and Morgan) manage to dodge the Red Hats and get back to their hideout. They try to remove the alien's exoskeleton with a buzz saw but it's impenetrable. Will determines their location and pleads with Jennifer to give him a 10 minute head start. Oh great, now Jennifer knows Will's wife works for the enemy. That's not good.

Will tells Katie he MUST take the Host's body back to the TA or lots of innocent people will die. She finally agrees. The rest of the team disappears into a secret passage in the floor. At the end of the episode, Will leaves the LA bloc through the gateway to Santa Monica. His plan is to rescue Charlie. Katie is at home. She is all alone--maybe for the first time in her life. And end scene.

While "Colony" uses aliens as a backdrop, it's really a show about the effects of such an invasion on a marriage. The Bowmans share the same goal but are trying to accomplish it in two completely opposite ways. Tensions mount as we fear Katie will either be discovered or brutally killed. Remember the scene of Rachel and her sons hanging from the bridge? Pretty heavy stuff. What lasting effects will these lies have on their marriage? Will they ever be able to fully trust each other again?

Grade: 3 1/2 Monsters (out of 5). TBH, I found "Gateway" a bit slow. "Colony" has always been a paced show but I expected more from the finale. The showdown between Will and Katie over the alien was uneventful. Don't get me wrong. I still love the show but this episode left me bored.
