Gotham Season 2 Episodes 13-16 Reviews: Pee Wee's Gotham Adventure

I havent reviewed "Gotham" in a while. I'm enjoying "Rise of the Villains" much more than season one though. Here's the latest happenings:

Mr Freeze and Professor Strange go into cahoots together. Selina and Bruce try to make it on the streets. Bruce gets beat to a bloody pulp. He may have found his mother and father's killer. Is it really Matches Malone? Edward Nygma continues to get crazier and tries to cover his tracks.

The Penguin is declared sane and released from Arkham Asylum. He encounters his estranged father who is none other than Pee Wee Herman (ie Paul Reubens). Elijah Van Dahl had an affair with Gertrude Kapelput years ago when she worked for his family. They did not approve of the relationship and sent her away. Oh, and Elijah is filthy rich and lives in a secluded Gotham castle.

Van Dahl accepts Cobblepot with open arms. Oswald is overjoyed with his new family. His step mother Grace and her two adult children don't feel the same way. They plan to get rid of Oswald. First, the daughter tries to seduce him. That doesnt work. Then the son offers. Penguin makes it a point of saying he never raped anyone. That's a strange thing to say out of the blue. Next they reveal his criminal past. Van Dahl says he doesnt care (plus the Penguin is famous in Gotham). They then decide to kill Cobblepot. Daddy accidentally drinks the poison that was intended for junior. Now he's dead and Oswald is going to go "full Penguin" on everyone in Gotham.

Meanwhile Jim Gordon is in Blackgate Penitentiary for killing an internal affairs officer. We know he was framed by the Riddler for that crime (but he did actually kill Galavant). Jim tells a pregnant Leslie is to forget about him and move away. He's in constant danger after being moved out of protective custody. A young inmate named Puck comes to his defense. Yes, that guy was a goner from the beginning. Who didn't see that coming?

It looks like Gordo is stabbed to death but it's all a ruse. He is safety shuttled out of prison thanks to help from Bullock, a guard and a back in town Don Falcone. Where's Jim to go now? We also learn that Leslie lost the baby. Those poor kids can't catch a break.

Grade: 4 Monsters (out of 5). A couple of fun episodes. Penguin's seriously screwed up family was the highlight of the show. I also enjoyed the scenes where Jim does the same thing day after day in prisoner. "Gotham" returns in two weeks.
