Get Out Alive With Bear Grylls Episodes 4-5 Recaps: Dont Look Down

At the beginning of the episode, Bear tells everyone they have to leave their sleeping bags and fire starters behind. It's about time, ya wimps! I don't call what these people are doing survival. It was more like camping with all their gizmos.

This week's big obstacle was crossing a gorge on a rope. Everyone got over except Robin who had to be pulled halfway and Louie and Lucky who didn't even try. One thing that bothers me about this show is, even though Bear says the goal is survival, teamwork and self improvement, no one is ever actually in any danger of not surviving. It just strikes me as people trying to accomplish certain tasks but there aren't any real consequences. For true  life drama, see "Naked and Afraid".

The food team had to capture eels which Bear referred to as "tuna". I LOVE eel... Very tasty. Jim and Austin were able to make fire by rubbing some sticks together.

The survival test this week was communicating with each other is order to build a snare. Royce and Kyle won a trip to the feast pit (and chose to bring Lucky and Louis with them). I honestly don't understand why they have the feast pit element on the show except that its nice to see people appreciate food and get to bathe.

With this week's elimination of Robin and Wilson (who have been struggling for some time), there are five teams left. For anyone keeping track, Momma Donna and daughter Canden were eliminated last week.

Here's the remaining teams per Wikipedia:

 ?Chris & JeffLOWSAFELOW
 ?Kyle & RoyceSAFE
 ?Louie & LuckyLOW
 ?Madeline & RyanSAFELOW

Not sure I'll keep recapping this show regularly. It's just not holding my attention. Please let me know if you're having the same issue.

Grade: No grade assigned since this is a reality show.
