True Blood Episode 10 Recap: Pay No Attention To That Dangling Appendage (Season Finale)

The name of episode 10 is really "Radioactive" but you can bet no one is talking about that. How did you like the show?  I did enjoy it but the last episode seemed more like a season finale to me.

Here's the highlights:

  • When we last left the vampires they were all frolicking in the sun thanks to drinking Bill's blood. Now they're having an orgy in Bill's yard. Bill is upset because he's lost his powers. Jessica tries to comfort him. Pam misses Eric. Tara tries to stop her from flying off to find him but to no avail. Tara says "You and Eric are the worst makers ever". Flash over to Eric who's in Sweden on a snow covered mountain reading a book in the nude... Cause I guess that's how they roll in Sweden. When Bill's blood wears off, Eric bursts into flames. This is why dear reader you should always wear clothes (preferably a parka). I don't understand why no one else caught fire though besides Eric?
  • Warlow is not letting Sooki back out on her promise to marry him (and he doesnt want to just date for a while). He slapped her around and is apparently planning to suck her dry. Now we see his true colors (again). Meanwhile Jason, Andy, Violet and Bill go to the fairy plane thanks to Adelyn opening the portal. A fight ensues. There's lots of staking and growling and tossing of bodies. Everyone goes back to the real world where the fight continues. Bill can't get into the house because Sookie had previously uninvited him. Warlow follows Sookie into the bathroom. He's standing next to the portal though (remember the one he used previously) and Grandpappy Niall reaches out and grabs him. He then instructs Jason to stake Warlow. Warlow ends up a big pile of red fairy/vampire goo. That storyline seemed like a lot of work for not much payoff. For a 5000 year old fairy vampire, you'd think he would have put up more of a fight.
Fast forward to six months later:

  • Bill has written an autobiography and is doing the media circuit.
  • Warlow is still dead. We think Eric is also deceased but who knows. Pam is MIA.
  • Sookie and Alcide remember that they like each other.
  • Jason has been "servicing" Violet for 178 nights and is tired and frustrated.
  • Grandpappy is missing again but no one seems to notice or care.
  • Sam is now the mayor (say what)? Andy owns Merlotte's.
  • Bands of vamps infected with Hepatitis V are roving the countryside. Sam and some ministers try to convince the humans to each pair up with a vampire for protection.
  • There was a touching scene between Tara and her mom Lettie Mae. Poor Tara has not had much to do this season. I hope they're not planning to kill her off.
  • Jessica goes to Andy and Adelyn's house to offer them protection. On a side note: what happened to Adelyn aging so rapidly? She should be 100 by now. Anyway Andy politely declines... Because Jessica ate his other three fairy daughters. I can see how that sort of thing would cause a person to hold a grudge.
  • Bill tries to convince Sookie that she needs protection... just as gang of V Vamps (who look a lot like zombies) approach Bon Temps. And we'll see ya next season folks!
Grade:  4 Monsters (out of 5). The first part of the season was slow at times but I definitely enjoyed the last few episodes.
