Agent Carter Season 2 Episodes 4-7 Reviews: Dottie Is Delightfully Devilish

"Agent Carter" is burning through episodes at a rapid rate. They had a twofer both last week and this week. I guess they're quickly making room for "Agents of SHIELD's" return.

We witness the rise of Whitney Frost. She is a formidable villain. Whitney visits the Council (who predictably give her sass and try to kill her). But the trick's on them. She turns a few guys into black goo. Then she disposes of hubby Calvin Chadwick. Looks like he political aspirations are over. Cal, you should know better than to tangle with your wifey. We see some flashbacks of Whitney as a young girl (fixing her mom's radio) and as a young woman (as she's discovered by a Hollywood talent agent). There are flashbacks of Peg (both as a young girl and a young woman about to be married). Of course, she was slaying dragons and rescuing damsels in distress in a child. What else would you expect?

Peg is badly injured in a fight with Whitney. She takes some rebar to the stomach. Ouch! A on-the-mend Peg enlists Dottie to help her take out Whitney. I'm DELIGHTED to see Dottie (Bridget Regan) back. I would seriously watch a show with just Dottie and Peg in a room trading barbs. Where can I sing a petition?

Wilkes discovers a way to materialize but can't stray far from his containment unit (or whatever it's called). Jason is so glad to be back that he plants a big kiss on Peg. Mr and Mrs Jarvis share a confused look. Daniel Sousa tells Peggy that Violet broke off their engagement (after seeing he was still in love with Peg). It seems Agent Carter has lots of love interests to chose from this season. Wilkes obviously has feeling for her. Sousa has never gotten over her. And I'm not sure if Dottie wants to date her or kill her. Maybe its a bit of both.

What is Vernon Masters REALLY up to? He keeps whispering in Jack's ear that he shouldn't let a woman outdo him. Vernon is obviously working with Frost. He's trying to play Sousa ( he wants him to find the stolen uranium rods) and Peg. Carter quits the SSR as a result. I hope Masters meets a horrible painful death at the hands of Whitney (or better yet-- Dottie).

Speaking of Vernon, his interrogation of Dottie was another highlight of these episodes. As he lays out his implements of torture, Dottie says "I've pulled out my own teeth, my own nails, my own hair...". She's in no way remotely frightened of him. Interestingly though when Whitney shows up and almost turned Dottie into black goo, Dottie IMMEDIATELY spills her guts. I thought she might hold up a little better.

At the end of "Monsters" Whitney heads over to the Jarvis estate. She tries to reabsorb Wilkes into her system but he somehow blocks her. Whitney then decides they'll work together to harness Zero Matter. Jason might comply since it appears the power is affecting him mentally. Ana is shot during the commotion outside. Edwin and Peg rush her to the hospital. Will Ana die? Hopefully not...especially after she shows such concern for Edwin's safety in their scene. Meanwhile Dottie is on the loose again (after escaping from the car trunk and killing a security guard).

Favorite Quotes:

  • "You should smile more."- Whitney's "uncle", a talent agent to Whitney and a women to Jack at the party.
  • "This IS my surprised face."- Dottie. I just love that woman!
  •  "I've pulled out my own teeth, my own nails, my own hair..."- Dottie Underwood.
  • "You underestimate your allure, Ms Carter."- Jarvis to Peggy about her suitors.

Episode Guide:
Episode 4: "Smoke & Mirrors"
Episode 5: "The Atomic Job"
Episode 6: "Life Of The Party"
Episode 7: "Monsters"

Grade:i 4 1/2 Monsters (out of 5). "Agent Carter" continues to be a delight. I just love the zingy one liners. And now that Dottie is back, the show is a delight to watch. Please don't even think of getting rid of Dottie. Whitney also makes a formidable villain as well. Girl power all around!

On a somewhat related note, do you think Dotti is Black Widow's mother? Or could she be Black Widow herself? Her name is Natasha but we all know "Dotti" is not the Soviet agent's real name.
