How To Get Away With Murder Season 2 Episodes 10-11 Reviews: Is Annalise Losing It?

"How To Get Away With Murder" returns from it's winter break with two episodes entitled "What Happened To You Annalise?" and "She Hates Us". Annalise narrowly escapes death after being shot by Wes. You can't blame him though. She egged Wes on by screaming "I lied to you. Rebecca is dead". Upon hearing that, Wes opted to shoot Annalise in the stomach instead of going for a leg. The rest of the Keating Five believe Laurel pulled the trigger (instead of Wes). Annalise is still trying to send poor innocent Catherine Hapstall to jail for the attempted murder of Annalise and the murder of ADA Sinclair's murder. (Asher actually ran over her with his car.) As you will recall, Catherine was drugged by Frank and doesn't remember a thing. Oy vey, this show makes my head hurt.

Due to all the medications she's taking, Annalise is hallucinating a baby (which we assume is the young Wes). Bonnie takes care of her at home (but also drugs her to keep Annalise from testifying). I still cant tell if Bonnie loves Annalise or wants her dead. Maybe it's a little of both.

Is Laurel Being Kind Or Is She Up To Something?

Speaking of Wes, he's having a hard time forgiving himself. Laurel is trying to keep an eye on him but he's on a downward spiral. He ends up in a mental hospital. Shooting Annalise triggered memories of his own mother's death (which Annalise and Eve were somehow involved in).

Run Rose! Run Far Away!

We see a number of fun flashbacks including Bonnie and Frank as students. Too funny. Also, any speculation about Annalise being Wes/Christophe's mother have been refuted. We see a pregnant Annalise with Rose and a small child is nearby. What happened to the baby? It seems that Annalise freaks out currently whenever she sees a child. Did she give birth and kill her baby (God forbid!) or her baby died (and the memories are too painful)?

The events at the Hapstall mansion weigh heavily on everyone. Caleb now hates Michaela. He tells her they (Annalise and her students) should "all rot in hell". Asher is hanging out at Connor and Oliver's apartment and intruding on their private time. Asher still believes someone murdered his father. Was it Annalise? Laurel forces Frank to confide in her or she'll break up with him. He finally confesses to killing Lila. That was a powerful scene. I think it's safe to say that the Keating Five either: 1. Currently hate Annalise; or 2. Are well on their way to hating her.

And in the final scene, Connor gets an emailed video of the happenings that night at the mansion. Is it from Phillip or someone else? Nate seems a bit removed from the happenings these days but he did visit Annalise and tell her "you protect me. I protect you". I don't think he's involved... but who knows on this crazy show.

Grade: 4 Monsters (out of 5). These two episodes weren't horrible but didn't exactly knock it out of the park like I expected. Viola Davis continues to blow me away though with her acting skills. Wow...just wow.
