Thus ends season 1 of "Orphan Black". Why oh why aren't there more episodes? Probably because Tatiana needs a MUCH deserved rest. If there is any justice in the world, she will win lots of awards for the show. Episode 10 was chock full of exciting twists and reveals. Here's a recap of the goings on with our favorite clones:- Dr Leekie is trying to get everyone to sign contracts. We promise to leave you alone if you sign this paper and come in twice a year for medical testing? Very fishy. Why does anyone think they can trust him? I do not.
- Allison signed the contract in order to get her life back. She wanted Aynesley (who was moving) to tell her the truth-- that she was the monitor. Aynesley does not and in a scene reminiscent of "Final Destination" gets her scarf stuck in the dish disposal (while trying to cram a felt angel that Allison made her down it). She pleads for Allison to help. Allison goes to turn off the switch but hesitates at the last minute. Aynesley dies. Allison, you poor stupid girl! Donnie is your monitor and you just killed who used to be your best friend. And this scene re-enfoces my hatred of the dish disposal. It keeps trying to lure me near it but I refuse to be tricked. It is evil.
- Meanwhile Cosima is at Felix's house coughing up blood. Oh no!! Not a good sign. Delphine shows up and wants to help. I think we can trust her now. She has it bad for Cosima. Cosima figures out her DNA sequence thanks to Delphine having memorized her ID number. How romantic! But no time for warm fuzzies... apparently the clones have been patented and are the property of... someone (but we dont know who). How do you patent people? OB writers, please, please don't let Cosima die. She is my favorite.
- Helena escapes from the basement and lures their birthmother into meeting by pretending to be Sarah. Instead she stabs her. I didn't see that coming. Amelia tries to tell Sarah something about Mrs S not being who she claims but dies first. Sarah shoots Helena. Helena appears to be dead but I'm not buying it. That cat has more than nine lives and she is powered by Crazy Juice.
- We meet yet another clone. This one is named Rachel and looks like Posh Spice. Is she in charge? I have no idea. Felix calls her ProClone? I thought that meant she was the prototype for the other clones. Anyway i dont like her. After Sarah refused to sign the contract, she called someone and said "You know what you have to do". I agree with Sarah "Up Yours ProClone!"
- And in the final cliffhanger, Sarah rushes to Mrs S's. The house has been trashed and Kira and Mrs S are gone. I think it is Felix who took them (because he's been Sarah's monitor all along). What say you?
Grade: 4 1/2 Monsters (out of 5). "Orphan Black" Is one of the best scifi shows on television. It's going to be a long wait till next year
