Great New Fall TV Shows To Watch Out For... And A Few Cancellations

It's seems that we've entered the golden age of horror/scifi/fantasy/mystery television with a LARGE number of new shows in the genres. I'm not sure how long it will last but I'm going to enjoy every minute of it. I still remember the days when reality TV ruled. Yuck! Dont get me started on why I hate reality TV.

Anyway...below are several new shows worth watching out for. But first, let's go through the recent cancellations. None of these strike me as surprising. How bout you?

CANCELLATIONS:
  • Constantine- Fox-  Canceled but is being shopped around to other networks.
  • In The Flesh- BBC America- British shows are not on the same schedule as US ones but it appears "In The Flesh" will not be returning. Fans (including myself) keep signing petitions. I hope the show finds a life elsewhere. How bout the SyFy channel?
  • Intruders- BBC America- Another British import and my favorite show of 2014. To be honest, I'm not sure what else they could do in a second season. You cant improve on perfection. Just remember "what goes around, comes around".
  • The Following- Fox- Sorry but I ditched you long ago.
  • Helix- SyFy- I've been with "Helix" since episode 1 but unfortunately season 2 was a hot mess.
  • Resurrection- ABC- Had somewhat of a following but couldnt live up to the "The Returned" hype. I did watch all of season 1.
  • Stalker- CBS- Is also being shopped around. It might find a better home with the "Criminal Minds" crowd.
Hotlanta Apparently Just Got Hotter

NEW FALL SHOWS:
  • Blindspot- NBC- A woman with amnesia is found in Times Square. The FBI follows the clues in her tattoos in order to uncover a conspiracy. The publicity photos were very compelling (see beginning photo).
  • Containment- CW- Previously named "Cordon". A virus with a 100% mortality rate forces a quarantine of Atlanta. Those left inside are forced to fight for their lives. Kinda sounds like "the Walking Dead" without the zombies.
  • Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders- CBS- Same "Criminal MInds" as usual but this one is outside the US.
  • The Frankenstein Code- Fox- A corrupt cop is brought back to life in order to mend his ways.
  • Legends of Tomorrow- CW- Another DC entry. Time traveler Rip Hunter is trying to change the future before its too late.
  • Limitless- CBS- Based on the movie, NZT drugs give Bradley Cooper super human mental capabilities. And in case you didnt know, Bradly also started as Brian Sinclair in the movie.
  • Lucifer- Fox- another entry from DC. The Devil travels to Los Angeles to help the LAPD punish criminals. That's strange, I thought he was already in LA.
  • Marvel's AKA Jessica Jones- Netflix- A former superhero opens a detective agency.
  • Minority Report- Fox- A TV adaptation of the EXCELLENT movie. Precogs put their powers to good use.
  • Quantico- ABC- In the FBI freshman class hides a terrorist who's bent on America's destruction.
  • Scream Queens- Fox- from Ryan Murphy of "American Horror Story" and "Glee" fame. Nuff said.
  • Sense8- Netflix- eight people around the world are mentally linked after a death. The trailer looks very interesting.
  • Super Girl- CBS- Superman's cousin is here to protect the American way of life.
  • The X Files- Fox- If you dont know what this show is about then maybe aliens have already probed you. And yes I know the show premieres in the winter (and not the fall) but I'm just happy its back. If you need a Gillian Anderson fix in the meantime, check out "The Fall" seasons 1-2 on Netflix. You wont be disappointed.
