Lizzie Borden Chronicles Epi 6 Review: Having Killed All the Main Characters in Fall River, Lizzie Moves Elsewhere

My hat is off to you Miss Borden. You successfully fooled me. I was expecting you to continue with the two murders per episode pattern. Instead, you wiped out all the remaining main characters. Was this the finale and I didnt know it? Nope. We still have two weeks to go. So what's a girl to do when there's no one left to kill? Move to another town with a fresh batch of victims of course. Before we pack up for parts unknown, let's hit the highlights of "The Fugitive Kind".

The episode begins with Siringo on trial for Spencer and Isabel's deaths. We know the charges are ludicrious but just roll with it. The best part of the trial was when the prosecutor asked Lizzie if she was responsible for the deaths of: Spencer, Nance, Isabel, Flowers, Adele, photographer Perry, next door neighbor Mrs Kenney, brother Will, William, and finally Mr and Mrs Borden. She answered "no" to each. Hilarious. That made me laugh out loud. Siringo is quickly convicted of the double murder and will be sent to the Charlestown prison for execution.

Maybe I Should Have Tried eHarmony Instead

Meanwhile Lizzie is still intent on breaking up Trotwood and Emma. She sends Trotwood to the old house to get some pearls from the attic. She has placed baby Benjamin there for him to discover. The plan backfires though because Emma tells Leslie the entire story and he forgives her. Side Note: We learn the identity of Benjamin's father. I assumed it was Mr Borden but it was actually one of his friends. Either way, Emma accuses Lizzy of poisoning Benjamin. She says "You took away the only person in this world that needed me".

In Hindsight Maybe I Shouldnt Have Blackmailed A Serial Killer

Skipjack visits Lizzie with the picture of the dead Spencer. He wants their partnership to end because, let's be honest, he's afraid of crazy Lizzie. But we know she isnt done with him yet. She visits him with lots of cash asking him to "save her family". This translates to: KILL LESLIE TROTWOOD. Skipjack sneaks up behind Leslie at night and strangles him. But Lizzie is still not happy. She wanted it to look like an accident. She kills Skipjack. The poor guy never had a chance around her.

I Was Seriously Worried For Emma In This Scene

Emma is obviously very distraught after Leslie's death. She decides she is leaving town to get away from Lizzie. Sister, that is the wisest move you could ever make. But at the train station she has second thoughts. She just cant "quit" Lizzie. And Lizzie cant quit Emma either. She seems to be the only person she ever truly loved.

Let's Take A Little Ride

Siringo is in the back of the prison carriage. He has stolen Hilliard's watch and uses the parts to fashion something to unlock his shackles. He escapes and shoots a guard. Great cinematography in this scene. It was so cold you could see everyone's breathe. I also enjoyed the slow motion shot from behind of Siringo chasing down a horse.

Next Hilliard comes storming into Lizzie's house. Siringo has escaped and they must leave immediately. But Siringo is right behind him. He shoots Hilliard dead. Siringo then chases Lizzie around the house. She hides with a knife. He looks under a table. She lunges at him but doesnt get far. Siringo strangles her on the floor. It's not looking good for Lizzie but her name's in the show title so she cant die. Just then Emma runs in and hatchets Siringo in the head. The two sisters hug and collapse. The last scene shows Lizzie reading to Emma. Everything is back to normal in the Borden household. I hope they cleaned up all the blood first.

An important note. Each week I've listed Lizzie's body count. However this week she confessed at her mother's grave that she had killed 27 people. Geez, its hard to keep track isnt it? We also learn of Lizzie's rationale for the murders. She did it to protect Emma and her family. OK then... yep, she's nutso.

Partial Body Count List-- 27 confirmed by Lizzie at her mother's grave:

  • Mr Borden
  • Mrs Borden (Lizzie's stepmother, not her birth mother)
  • Brother Will
  • William Almy
  • Nance's brother Spencer
  • Mr Flowers
  • Adele
  • Nance- that one was a complete shock
  • Next door neighbor Mrs Kenney (she was mean to her dog)
  • Perry (the photographer who helped Lizzie locate Spencer's body)
  • Isabel (love interest of Siringo)
  • Baby Benjamin- Emma believes Lizzie killed him
  • Trotwood- Emma's fiance
  • Skipjack
  • Hilliard- killed by Siringo but I'm still counting him
  • Siringo- killed by Emma but I'm still counting him
  • I assume Lizzie did not kill her birth mother Sarah Borden

Favorite Quotes:

  • "She's nothing if not thorough."- Skipjack about Lizzie.
  • "His only misfortune was residing in the same town as you"- Skipjack about Trotwood to Lizze.
  • "You took away the only person in this world that needed me".Emma to Lizzie.
  • "Save my family"- Lizzie to Skipjack.
  • "You're a sick animal that should have been drowned at birth."-Siringo to Lizzie.
  • Skipjack: "I want to be done with you." Lizzie: "I've forgotten you already." Haaa that Lizzie is hilarious!
  • "I'm done with death. I'm done with Fall River. And I'm done with you."- Emma to Lizzie.

Grade:  5 Monsters (out of 5). An excellent episode in my opinion because they did the unexpected. They killed everyone on the show (and NOT during the finale). Next week Lizzie moves to another town. Emma also enters a mental hospital (which is a bit strange since she looks fine at the end of this episode). What do you think will happen in the end? I fear for Emma's life.
