Orphan Black Season 3 Episode 5 Review: An Uncomfortable Family Reunion

"Scarred By Many Past Frustrations" opens with Helena still being held prisoner at the undisclosed army base. She talks with Pupok (her imaginary pet scorpion). In the next cell is Sarah. Uh oh. That's not good. This is not the kind of family reunion I had hoped for.

I Knew You Wouldnt Like My Family Pupok

Back in the states Gracie hunts down Art. She says her family cast her out because she lost Daddy Heinrick's baby. Art, not knowing what to do with her, takes Gracie to Mrs S and Felix. Felix is not happy about their new house guest. Mrs S tries to be supportive. She opens up and tells Gracie her husband John was murdered when she was young. I still dont fully trust Mrs S but I'd like to hear more about her past. It sounds like she's lived a very interesting life.

Sorry Shay, I'm Still A Cophine Shipper

Cosima has a internet date with Shay (hey there Ksenia Solo from "Lost Girl"). They hit it off and share an intimate moment. Can Shay be trusted? She seems too good to be true. I think she's Cosima's new monitor. And someone is outside taking pictures of them. Uh...Cosima is a clone... she looks like all the other clones.

Mark, Rudy and Major Paul arrive at Castor Base. Paul says the clone brothers are dying. Dr Virginia now has the baby bones from the grave Sarah dug up. She's going to do "science stuff" to them. I wont even try to explain because I dont understand (or care that much).

Not As Good As The Clone Dance Party But Still Fun

There's a fun dance scene with Mrs S, Felix and Gracie. We think Gracie is going to get drunk and pass out. Instead she falls on the floor in pain. Paramedics arrive. When they check her eyes, there are all red. Across town the same thing has happened to Patty (the woman that had sex with Rudy and Seth). So it appears that whatever the clone boys has is infecting women they have sex with. Uh oh.

Ninja Clone

Helena and Sarah hatch a plan to escape prison. Let's not forgot Helena has lots of prior experience being locked up. She butters herself up and crawls through a tiny cell door window. That was interesting to watch. There's no way I'd get through that little hole. I'd be lucky to get a leg through...but I digress. Anyway, we think Helena will release Sarah. Nope. She still believes Sarah sold her out. Helena is about to escape the compound when she has second thoughts about Sarah. Helena's decision making skills are not the best. Maybe she should have thought of Sarah BEFORE running all over the base? But no one asked me.

Grade: 4 Monsters (out of 5). I'm glad to see Helena and Sarah interacting again. Yes I TOTALLY forget they are the same actress. Its nice to see Cosima happy for a little while. My only criticism of this episode is no Alison. Next week we'll see how Alison's drug business is going. Delphine is back. And we'll get to catch up with One Eyed Rachel. This should be good.
