Fear The Walking Dead Review Season 2 Episode 2: Would You Invite Strangers Into Your Home During The Zombie Apocalypse?

"We All Fall Down" opens with a floater washing up on shore. Two children are playing. As the zombies approach, the kids look like goners. But, nope, there's a big metal fence built across the beach. Great intro "FTWD"! It really set the mood for the rest of the show.

Our seafarers try to evade the vessel that is closing fast in on them. They hide on the island of Catrina. There's a house. Will the people (if they encounter any) be friendly or try to kill them? If we've learned anything from "The Walking Dead" it's that humans are much more dangerous than zombies.

Luckily the inhabitants are friendly (suspiciously so). Something seems a little off about these people right from the start. The father (George Geary) is very interested in Travis and his Maori ancestry.

Chris meets a new friend in Seth and gets his frustrations out by pickaxing walkers. Travis seems horrified but Chris is learning some useful skills. Someone has to defend the family because Travis apparently isnt.

The mother (Melissa) has MS. She eventually asks Madison to take the two smaller children with them. She of course does not consult the hubby-- probably because he's crazy.

Willa asks Alicia what the "Ring Around The Roses" (the nursery rhyme) means. That is of course what the episode title "We All Fall Down" refers to. Alicia says its from a long time ago when people got sick (from the plague), they used flowers hoping the smell would help heal them. We know how well that worked out.

Harry runs to tell everyone that his sister is sick. She has gotten into Daddy's stash of pills. Those "power pills" that Nick spied earlier are actually cyanide. George has been slowly poisoning the family to death. Why would he do that? I mean other than because he's a loon. They have a pretty good setup on the island. This seems a very drastic step.

Melissa cradles her daughter. She doesnt know what we do-- everyone that dies becomes a walker. The girl opens her eyes. Yep, she's a white walker. She reaches up and rips out her mother's throat.

Everyone runs the ship. Maddie carries Harry. Seth arrives with gun drawn. He wants the boy. Madison reluctantly gives him back. Just then Zombified Melissa walks down the pier. Seth tells Harry to wave goodbye to everyone while he shoots his mother in the head. That was a powerful scene. "Wave Goodbye" may be the new "Look At The Flowers". And if you dont know what that means, you're not a hard core "TWD" fan.

Where is the Abigail off to next since San Diego has burned? Strand plans to head to Mexico. And, as we learned last week, it's his boat and his rules. I'd be interesting in seeing how others are surviving during the zombie apocalypse.

Grade: 4 Monsters (out of 5). The episode was a little boring at times but had some great scenes (such as the beach intro, zombie girl, and the goodbye at the pier).

We didnt see much of Strand or the Salazars this week. And it looks like our crew will meet up with the lady from Flight 462 (from the commercials) next week. That will be cool. If that woman survived zombies on a plane, I'd say she's pretty tough.
