Sleepy Hollow Season 3 Episode 18 Review: Well, That Was A Sucky Ending (Season Finale)

I must confess that after initially being a diehard Sleepyhead, I lost interest in "Sleepy Hollow" during season 2. I checked in occasionally (catching season premieres, finales and several episodes in between) after that but did not watch regularly. The show didnt hold my attention anymore. This brings us to the season 3 finale entitled "Ragnarok".

What in the world were the writers thinking? It's two weeks later and fans are still fuming. The only other recent shows  to garner this much anger and frustration are: "The 100" (there still may be a riot) and the season finale of "The Walking Dead" (don't get me started).

The finale of "Sleepy Hollow" destroys the bedrock the show is built on-- the relationship between Abbie Mills and Ichabod Crane.  Abbie is dead for a SECOND time this season. Seriously? They couldnt think of anything different to try? And this time she's gone for G-O-O-D. Nicole Beharie apparently wanted off the show in a big way. Tom Mison was also trying to limit his screen time. The show runners and many of the original writers left after season 1. What are they doing to people over there? It sounds like a scary place to work.

If "Sleepy Hollow" does return next year, how will it deal with the absence of a main character? Will the powers that be find another "Abbie"? I thought there were the only two preordained Witnesses (but I guess not). Could Jenny take Abbie's place? She seems like the most likely choice.

Ichabod could find some new folks to work with at his top secret government agency. They (Ichy, Jenny, Daddy Ezra) could investigate a different baddie each week since Pandora, Hidden One, Headless Horseman, Katrina, Henry/Jeremy and Moloch are all gone as is Irving and Joe. And if "Sleepy Hollow" does return, will anyone watch it? Many people are super pissed and have vowed not to continue. One thing is for sure-- Abbie deserved better.
Grade: 2 1/2 Monsters (out of 5). I really enjoyed "Sleepy Hollow" back in season 1 but that ship has sailed. Fox needs to move on to something new. They've already made enough of a mess out of "SH".
