Helix Episode 6 Recap: There Goes The Neighborhood

Day 6 at Arctic Biosystems. Do we have any answers? No, just more questions. For anyone that believed Sergio was dead after being pickaxed by Daniel, you were wrong. Was it a Yeti that drug him away? Nope it was a law enforcement chick living in an igloo. Uh I thought the station was in a VERY isolated area? The group's not being completely separated from the outside world decreases the effectiveness of the show for me. That's what made "The Shining" so powerful.

Anyway it turns out Anana is Daniel's sister. And Daniel (or should we call him Tulok) has a missing twin named Miksa. Ananda is investigating the disappearance of 31 missing children over two decades.

Meanwhile back at the ranch, Julia is looking pretty rough and hallucinating up a storm. Not sure what all those scenes meant. Hatake injects her with something else (no that wasn't a sedative) and scurries back upstairs. Later she gets all freaky eyed liked Hatake.

Alan and Sarah head down to Level R to rescue Julia. Uh that door is padlocked for a reason people! And just then the zombies, scratch that, the vectors try to break through. Alan saws off one's arm. Ewwww, that was fun.

Back upstairs Alan and Hatake quibble over what the virus is. Yes we all know the virus is a delivery mechanism. Doreen could have told you that (if she was still alive).

Hatake told Daniel that when Sergio didn't check in, THEY would arrive. And here comes the Ilaria Corporation and Jeri Ryan. You will be absorbed into the collective. Resistance is futile.

Other random observations:
  • "Aniqatiga" (which is the episode's title) means my brother or my sister in Inupaiq (native Alaskan language).
  • Where is the head (ie Dr Hvit)?
  • What's going to happen to Peter now that's in the cryo fluid suit?
  • How did Hatake heal so quickly? "Must be good genes."
  • What about the children? We haven't seen any children except in hallucinations.
  • The black oozy stuff taking over the lab was fun. When in doubt, turn a fire extinguisher on it.
  • Rats in a tank is always better than heads in a tank. Watch "The Walking Dead" if you don't get that reference.
  • Sexy times for Alan and Sarah. More sexy times all around I say!!!
  • The editing in this episode was a bit distracting such as choppy scenes with Julia and Hatake. Is there a reason they were done this way?
  • I thought when this show started it would be a straight up horror or alien series. It's seeming more and more like "Lost" with each new episode.

Grade: 4 Monsters (out of 5). Another fun episode. If I was expecting answers I would be frustrated but I'm just enjoying the ride.
